MARRY ME comic page

Page 84: Buying Time

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Color version up later! EDIT: Color up!

In case anyone’s wondering, in this page Guy decided not to let Mr. Tyler see his family yet (he’ll explain why in 2-3 pages), so he’s pretending that Janny was moved to another room. One of the many scenes that play a lot better on film, where it’s easy to do a lot of quick cuts and establish a scene quickly and easily.

  1. Ilya Says:

Yay! Another new page! Even in black and white, it’s amazing. :] Can’t wait for the ending.

  2. Paxy Says:

    LOVE IT!

  3. the captain Says:

right on we get to see the sis

  4. Norman728 Says:

It has become Bittersweet… As each new page arrives it becomes closer to the end. Two Things come to mind.

1….. Was Janny lying?…. Just to see How Stasia really feels about Guy?

2…… It the Tittle of the page an Inside Joke?………With time running out is Bobby Buying Time so there will be a Fufilling resolution?

  5. Bobby Crosby Says:

Ugh. Not an inside joke and Janny clearly wasn’t lying (try reading Page 29). There will be a very fulfilling resolution which is entirely planned out and has been for many months.

  6. Quarion Galanodel Says:

As was said before, great page even in black and white.

I love this comic and I don’t know how many people have said it before because I don’t tend to go back and read the comments on previous pages but please don’t push yourself too hard so close after surgery.

Also, I truly hope you’re feeling better.

  7. chumash99 Says:

Guy is just trying to butter up Mr. Tyler before he goes crazy. Also, I don’t think Parker Jr. is qualified to be POTUS now. :) Great page, hope the color version will be up soon!

  8. WalkerBoh Says:

I for one am interested in buying the Dead Tree Edition. This is one of the most awesome things I’ve found in a long time. Glad to hear we’ll be getting follow-up stories, ’cause I don’t want this to end. :)

  9. Z Says:

    why no color?

  10. Peter Says:

Bobby I love the comic and absolutly will want to order a graphic novel. I can’t wait to see how the story ends.

  11. Bobby Crosby Says:

    “why no color?”

Banned for asking too many stupid questions in one day.

  12. saphirekosmos Says:

I’d love a copy, just depends on the price whether or not I can get one. T_T

  13. Jenn Says:

uht-ohes, crazy daisy… so far so good,

    whats to happen next!?!

<33 Keep up the good work guys!!

  14. mkoebius8 Says:

I still laugh everytime i think of Parker saying “I call her crazy Daisy ’cause she’s crazy”

  15. Stace Says:

Wow, I’m really enjoying the comic! Can’t wait to see what happens next! Get well!!!

  16. Andrew House Says:

I’m quite likely to get a copy of the graphic novel, assuming it isn’t crazy expensive….

  17. Miguel M. Says:

I would most definitely buy a graphic novel if it means money going into your pockets for all your hard work and time spent on this awesome series.

  18. Pamela Says:

*to Stasia’s Dad* Are you impressed yet??

    hehehehehehe

  19. Goody Says:

Hoping Guy is detouring Dad to give Stasia and Janny time to talk. Love the timing with the TV show, though.

On a personal note, glad to see you’re doing better post-surg, Bobby. Emergency gallbladderectomy is NO fun. Been there done that. Oh, and DONT let the doc give you Questram to help deal with gastric after effects. Nasty vile gritty horrid stuff.

  20. Bobby Crosby Says:

My skin is green now, so I don’t know if I’m doing much better. (Not gonna go into details on that, don’t want to hear a million medical opinions.) No Questram, so that’s good, I guess. On two antibiotics and Vicodin.

  21. invulove Says:

i will DEFINITELY want to buy it =]
and Z.. what the fuck? do you not know the meaning of reading??
are you just here for Eisu’s pretty pictures?
*shakes head* i lose faith in humanity more and more every day…

  22. invulove Says:

and Bobby, I’m sorry =[ i hope everything works out alright
    *gives many hugs*
anything i can do, please tell me asap..

  23. Alex Says:

(Hopefully the following is not a stupid question)
How come this comic called Marry Me Movie? Its speed is incredible and the writing is on par with the subject matter (this isn’t shakespearan times anymore, so don’t misinterpert Bobby Bro that I’m dissing your scripting[Kudos]), so why the slow down after this arc?

  24. Naomi Says:

Love the comic and would love a copy of the book, hope you feel better soon Bobby!

  25. LazerWulf Says:

Now I see how Ana and her dad can not say a word to each other for the entire book.

It would be interesting to see how long into the continuation series you can keep that going. I assume that they would eventually have to talk to each other.

  26. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Hopefully the following is not a stupid question”

It was stupid on multiple levels.

“How come this comic called Marry Me Movie?”

It’s not. You don’t even know the name of the comic. If you’re wondering why it’s at marrymemovie.com, read the blog post for Page 1, jeez.

“why the slow down after this arc?”

Very confused by that whole sentence — not sure what you’re saying. And this isn’t an “arc” — this graphic novel is the story of “Marry Me,” and then as a treat for the fans we’re gonna tell some extra stories featuring the characters from the comic. It’s actually fairly impossible now to do a film sequel to “Marry Me” — would be very stupid and pointless — but it’s fine to just have some more comics about the characters. There will not be a regular second graphic novel, but just some shorter stories.

“It would be interesting to see how long into the continuation series you can keep that going. I assume that they would eventually have to talk to each other.”

The extra comics will probably all take place at least a year after the current time in the comic, and I doubt the dad would appear in them any time soon, if ever. Probably gonna focus on Parker mostly. Might also tell some prequels, maybe seeing Guy and Parker meeting.

  27. LazerWulf Says:

    Your skin is green?

    BOBBY SMASH!

  28. Alex Says:

Thanks Bobby Bro, I didn’t start reading the blog posts till half way through and even then, intermittently. Good luck with getting this into theaters.

  29. Alex Says:

    (Might be a double post)
HOLY CRAP YOUR THE +EV GUY! I LOVE THAT COMIC! I just got back from a Hold Em’ game just now.

  30. Bobby Crosby Says:

Thanks for not doing what almost everyone else in your position does and acting outraged by my response. Thank you for not being a tiny little whiny baby.

And ha, just saw your latest comment.

Also, the reason for the “slow down” is because there would be no deadline anymore obviously.

  31. Norman728 Says:

I want One Too Do we order from the page? or in Previews as you Mentioned before way Back when?

  32. bionicghost Says:

    Go Crazy Daisy!

  33. Norman728 Says:

addendum to Previous post my L key stopping working for a while.

I want the FULL Marry Me Graphic Novel. The short stories should be awesome are we gonna see Lil’ Guy and Lil’ Parker mischeif. or maybe Lil’ Ana and Lil’ Janny antics. or will we find out they met as kids on some weird field trip. Maybe not but still look forward to what comes next.

  34. Bobby Crosby Says:

Norman: “We’ll start taking pre-orders soon” is what I said. More info coming on that. Will be ordering from this site.

  35. Alex Says:

(What is this my sixth post on a single comic!?)

I now completely understand whats going on; the title, rate of comics, etc. Buts thank for the info anyway Bobby Bro, I’ll go see the movie more than twice if you sneak in a poker reference by the end of the movie.

  36. Bobby Crosby Says:

Already been at least one poker reference in the comic, but a very obscure one. When one of Stasia’s lyrics early on was “I will fly one day,” that was in reference to Brandi Rose (poker player) writing that in blood on the mirror in like a suicide note, but she didn’t die at the time. She later apparently did kill herself, though, about a month ago. I once e-mailed her shortly after she became famous and linked her to “+EV” and she said she liked it.

  37. Calia Says:

I would be interested in the graphic novel, but unfortunately I don’t think I’d have the money for it or means to buy it online (or at the convention, since I’m not going >.>) for quite some time. Any ideas on how long you’d keep it available on the website? Preferably forever, haha.

  38. Jonathan Teatime Says:

Just throwing this out there- having an award named for you is officially at least ten times as awesome as just winning one.
Also, I kinda doubt Richmond could successfully keep Parker away from anything, even if:
    a) he knew where it was,
    b) she didn’t, and
    c) it didn’t involve Stasia.
As demonstrated several times (i.e. getting past Denny while smelling of piss, wangling her way into all following events, running 26 miles in under two hours, etc.) Parker is fscking unstoppable.
Plus he looks kind of geeky, and while there are physically badass geeks in existence, he does not appear to be one of them.

Also, I am intrigued by the idea of the follow-up stories centering around Parker… hmm.

By the way, I’m guessing that Denny’s absence is explained by the fact that Guy and Parker have moved significantly since the end of the previous page. If I’m wrong, please elaborate.

  39. Bobby Crosby Says:

Originally had a line where Guy says that Richmond is no match for Parker, but removed it.

Denny’s around, nothing of interest going on there — just not seen in this page.

  40. Jill D. Says:

    I’ll definitely buy a copy. :)

    Feel better, Bobby!

  41. Norman Says:

Bobby, I can understand why the comic isn’t colored, but I’m fairly sure you shouldn’t be (colored green, that is). I hope you get better even faster than Eisu can draw

Mr. Teatime: It was only a half-marathon (13 miles to the phone), but still, you make a good point. Whatever Richmond is paid, it is not worth the hassle he’s about to get into. Might make interesting reading after the dealine is met.

I still think Billie Piper (have you seen her in the martini glass on the billboards?) would be a good choice to play AnaStasia, but Mr. Tyler’s comment about (little Parker) being born in America would seem to indicate that an ability speak with an American accent would be essential, and I have no clue if she can or not, as all I’ve seen her in are British shows.

  42. Damgel Says:

I for one would love to own this series. This is one of the more humorous, satisfying and wonderful comics i’ve found in a long time - I literally bounce and get a huge grin on my face whenver I find it’s been updated. So add me to that list, I’d love to own this story and have it on my shelf to share with others and to reread time and tme again; you two have done a marvelous job with the story and art! :D

    ~Melissa the Damgel

  43. Mattz Says:

I wish I could sign up for WOWIO, but non-US citizens can’t sign up. D:

  44. Jenn Says:

    heyheyhey, Damgel

Download it on Wowoio before it comes to a comic store near you.

Unlimited access to previous comics along with some extras at no cost to you.

    Til then, pester your local comic shops to bring in the series. :}

  45. Pixie Says:

I would love to buy this when it comes out. ^_^ I check it almost religiously (pouting when it went for weeks without updates and cheering when it has nearly daily updates ^_^) and I’m quite sure it’d be great to reread the whole thing from beginning to end in one sitting when I’m not at the computer (where I tend to get distracted easily.. ooh, shiny link! *click*).

  46. Bethany Says:

Movie? Is this actually going to be a movie? ((sorry if I sound really stupid…but if this turns into an actual movie, I’m buying… …or is this just going to be a graphic novel? ))

    Btw…I hope you feel better!!!

  47. jalapenos…WOO! Says:

sign me up for a novel

  48. Alex Says:

I have to know how this turns out, for the sake of my sanity.

  49. Eleika Says:

Count me in for a book.

  50. Woodland Owl Says:

Another brilliant comic - Keep up the amazing work!
Also Hope you recover soon. And stop turning green. I don’t think the Hulk could write as well as you….

I contiplated writing an example but desided it would be a bad idea….

  51. JessieM Says:

awww… big sis has his back!!! (whether intentionally or not) LOL…

  52. Graymalkin Says:

So that’s Crazy Daisy. She may be crazy, but she looks pretty crazy hawt, too.

  53. Amber Says:

First post to say a quick and hearty “Hecks yeah I’ll buy the hard copy. And also, damn I love this story!”

  54. Andrew Says:

Oh, so that’s the end of the story? I guess that’s what you intended, anyway. It went by so fast.

It will be sweet seeing some shorter stories, though!

  55. Proxess Says:

will the movie have a european release?! ^^

  56. GLC Says:

I wonder if Janny’s son will be circumcised I wonder what his name is.

  57. Anna Says:

    I would order a book.

  58. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Oh, so that’s the end of the story?”

What the fuck are you talking about?

“I wonder if Janny’s son will be circumcised I wonder what his name is.”

Again, what the fuck? Try reading Page 82 which was entirely about what his name is.

“Marry Me” readers are now officially more stupid than “Last Blood” readers.

  59. Darkwish Says:

Can’t wait to see how this ends (and the side stories that were mentioned).

I haven’t seen anything posted about this recently (I might have missed it as I don’t have time to do anything but skim over the comments), but is there any word on when this might be turned into a movie? Last Blood finally got picked up a couple months ago and just wondering where this stood.

Hope you’re doing better. Hospitals suck.

  60. Darkwish Says:

“Marry Me” readers are now officially more stupid than “Last Blood” readers.

I’m sad to say that I would have to agree. I at least try to read the comics/comments before I ask a stupid question.

  61. Sandra Says:

I would order a book. This story is great! Keep up the good work.

  62. Bobby Crosby Says:

No major news on a movie — things in the works, going way too slow. Same for LB basically. It remains my guess that MM will come out in theaters before LB.

  63. Shinzen Says:

Yeow. Reading Comprehension, Do you Have It?!

Man.. I didn’t accidentally go to Youtube comments, did I?

Great comic. Hope you either : A) Get Better, B) Gain super-strength from the green skin and start throwing tanks around.

  64. CRVW1607 Says:

I would be interested in buying the book. I think it’s a great story (and the art work is awesome!). I’m looking forward to more.

  65. Melli Says:

Hey, I am sure you’ve probably answered this before, but I can’t seem to find it… where exactly are you on getting the movie deal? Do you have interest already from some producer? Just wanted to know where you were on that.

  66. Melli Says:

oh wow, there’s the answer, guess I should have looked harder!
sorry for double post. Had not refreshed the page before posting, and I guess it’d been up long enough to not see what you had said.

  67. batgirl Says:

There are times when you want the world to swallow you whole, this is one of Guy’s

  68. Dra Says:

I just love how freaking idiotic humans can be.

I might want a copy, it depends on a few variables in my real life, *aka cost and wither or not I’m making rent and bills when the thing comes out*.

If things line up I’ll want one. it’s a good story.

  69. Katy Says:

I am hereby offended on Guy, Parker and Denny’s behalf for the way that Stasia’s father has just treated Parker. (and for Janny and Stasia, too, although they did not witness this event) What is HIS problem? oh, wait, he’s probably like my dad and thinks that homosexuality is contagious … *rolls eyes*

Great page, guys! Bobby, hope you feel better soon. Don’t let the idiots get you down. Just remember, for every moron you have posting, you have at least three silent readers who have a good idea what is going on. Not to mention the posters who are NOT morons :-)

Speaking of Last Blood, I think I’m'a hop over there and see what my revelation from yesterday about how zombies move hath wrought. Probably nothing - people tend to ignore me when I’m silly, more’s the pity …

  70. Angus the cat Says:

I would love to hear exactly how Mr. Tyler sounds in real life… Like, is he super gritty-sounding? Or does he have some kind of bellow happening? There’s just so much scope for imagination…

Love the comic, keep up the fantastic work! Can’t wait to see this one in colour!

  71. Bobby Crosby Says:

Just wait until you see Daisy’s hair color.

  72. komacki Says:

Bobby said: “Just wait until you see Daisy’s hair color.”

I was thinking that she didn’t look crazy enough. So what are we talking about here? Green? Purple? Rainbow sherbet?

  73. Satoshieyes Says:

how would stasias father know she was a lesbian?

  74. Bobby Crosby Says:

It would have take the media less than a few hours to discover that Parker’s a lesbian. They know everything about Guy and Parker and Mr. Tyler knows even more. Didn’t you notice the TV coverage on this page?

  75. VisionAri Says:

    Norman:

I don’t know… Piper has a streetwise quality that doesn’t strike me as quite right for Stasia. Slap a brown wig on her, though, and I think she’d make a smashing Janny! :)

  76. Satoshieyes Says:

I didnt realize the media knew she was with them, sorry…
I only thought they wouldnt know, cause they left, quickly, not answering questions, and the papers/media would be more interested in finding out about the person she is married to, other than the random person in a photo who might have been crew.

I assumed it had only been about a day(and im probably wrong).
    sorry.

  77. Bobby Crosby Says:

Read Page 30 and Page 62, among others.

  78. ekezet Says:

This “Guy” guy seems to be perfect, i almost dislike him. Almost.

But great comic, btw, i have just read the whole through and its 1 am, i should get some sleep!

    Keep up the good work!

  79. Allison Says:

what is with all this blah posting. Look, your doing an amazing job. I’m hooked to the drawing and comic flow of the story. I really love is the fathers face with it’s permanent scowl of disapproval. LB is f*cking nothing less than hot. I’m only just beginning it. But it’s hot. mmmm vamp hot. SO FUCK THE CRITICS MORE LOVIN.

  80. Elisa Says:

Aw, I hope you feel better soon Bobby! (Or at least stop being green, cause we all know that it ain’t easy) I feel bad for you having to deal with all the silly people floating around when you’re still ill. It would make anyone want to rip heads off.

As to the hair color thing, I feel like she should be a redhead. I don’t know why, but even in black and white she gives off this redheaded vibe.

  81. Rosebud Says:

I’d order at least one, likely more for friends/family.

As for the story, it looks like he starts out as “boy” with her dad. We’ll see how this progresses.

Fortunately, a month early is generally fine. And at least it is a neutral topic. It’ll be amusing, though, to see how he responds to his grandson’s name.

I do hope they had at least some moments to freshen up. Everyone must be quite aromatic right now!

As for questions? Nope, don’t have any! Not even stupid ones. (=

  82. the captain Says:

    yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    color

  83. Dark Chili Says:

    wooooooooooooah, it’s like she’s from the 60’s….

  84. xcedra Says:

I wonder if another reason Mr. Tyler might like Parker kept away is the whole vampire marathon thing. Lesbian being one thing, but I could see him concerned over someone who drinks blood (even if its just cows) being around his child and/or grandchild.

Love the comic Bobby. Hope your feeling better soon!

  85. David Says:

Didn’t expect Daisy’s hair color, but she is called Crazy Daisy. XD

  86. Jon Pander Says:

Bobby: ““Marry Me” readers are now officially more stupid than “Last Blood” readers.”
    All right! Woo! We’re #1!

Komacki: “I was thinking that she didn’t look crazy enough. So what are we talking about here? Green? Purple? Rainbow sherbet?”
Apparently it’s Green and blue sherbert. Wow, you were close.

Satoshieyes: “how would stasias father know she was a lesbian?”
    What bobby said

…. and also it’s well known that all rich people who deal with the entertainment business have Gaydar.

  87. Norman Says:

    VisionAri Says:

“I don’t know… Piper has a streetwise quality that doesn’t strike me as quite right for Stasia. Slap a brown wig on her, though, and I think she’d make a smashing Janny!”

I disagree with your first opinion. I’m sure Piper has the range to cover the role. Of course, I’d feel more confident if I’d seen her in any role besides the other Ms. Tyler. I didn’t even get to see her “Star in a Reasonably Priced Car” segment on Top Gear :(. Have to check on some of those DVD titles…

OTOH, I can easily see her doing a great job as Janny.

The gripping hand is, of course, that casting decisions are hardly the purview of the fans. Bobby might pass on our suggestions, if he thinks they have merit, and the folks providing the money might listen to his casting ideas, and the casting director might even call her agent…. and she might be too busy.

    Still, we can hope, right?

Ooh, the Color is up! Has Daisy been watching too much anime?

  88. MarcusRaven Says:

With how amazing this comic has been, I would buy the book in a heartbeat. Even if the ending doesn’t turn out like I want it to, this has been an amazing story and a beautiful comic. When its done, however, tell “Eisu” to get back to No Pink Ponies. I miss it! ^_^

  89. Carolyn Says:

Don’t let her near his children?!

(fumes) The ass. He doesn’t even realize that his grandson was just named after Parker.

  90. Alicia Says:

First of all, kudos to Jon Pander for finding a way to include the word “gaydar” in his comment.

Secondly, damn…I just -love- that people could be stupid. I mean, I know I’m stupid, I just hope not all the time…but still…*sighs*

Anyway, Bobby and Remy…don’t let the stupidity get you down. Whatever anyone says, you’re obviously working your asses off to give us a high-quality comic here. Anyone who says differently is either an ass who doesn’t appreciate talent, commitment or hard work; an ass who simply doesn’t recognise these things; or a complete and utter ass. Period.

Bobby, hope you’re continuing to get better! My family is praying for you!!

Oh…and finally…I had a dream last night that Marry Me was finished and compiled into graphic novel format AND that the movie was finished. And that I owned them all b/c they were given to me as a box-set gift…also, since it was like…the deluxe version or something…Parker found her true love in an all-female crime-fighting team. Well, yeah, there had to be something kinda off about this…it was a dream… Anyway, it was such a beautiful dream that I was sad when I had to get up! I anticipate the continuation of the comic.

PS–sorry about any typing/spelling/stupidity mistakes in this. It’s kinda late where I’m at.

  91. Alicia Says:

Oh!! I failed to mention that I totally agree with Carolyn.

  92. Dani Says:

    I love Daisy’s hair color!

  93. Jenn Says:

. . . Oh.. my god.. I remember when my hair was dyed just like Daisy’s… lol

never had the clown make up though…

  94. Lyssa Says:

I’m really loving this comic. It brightens up my day. :) I hope everything goes well with the movie production, because this is great but making it into a film is obviously your ultimate goal for it.

  95. Norman Says:

Bobby wrote: “Post in the comments if you want to buy the book, just to give us an idea of the interest.”

I knew I was forgetting something. Yes, I want to buy the book.

But I’d feel guilty reading it, if Bobby neglects his needed rest to make the deadline. Hopefully, my worries are as unfounded as Guy’s worries back on p. 78 proved to be…

  96. Bobby Crosby Says:

Yeah, typing words for Mr. Tyler to say might tear my stitches.

  97. Avram Says:

Is it just me, or is Daisy really, really hot?

  98. bionicghost Says:

    Oh god.
    Rainbow hair

  99. LazerWulf Says:

    The… hair… 0_0;;

  100. Rosebud Says:

[Avram: Is it just me, or is Daisy really, really hot?]

Well, she has two kids; presumably someone else in toonville is attracted.

It’s funny — crazy colored hair in comics or games seems so very normal. In real life, it can be strange. I don’t know if it is the levels of realism versus fantasy or what.

[Comic: Richmond, stay with that one.]

Hee hee. It would be nice if they turned Richmond into a co-conspirator. =)

    [Christian]

While I do not require seeing Christian again, I am somewhat curious how Mr. Tyler would react to Guy taking out Christian. Would he like Guy because he is stronger than Christian. Or would hate him because he is so violent?

    [Father]

I still hope Guy and Anna’s father get along. If Guy can manage the situation, Mr. Tyler included, that would be ideal. It’s better for family relations not to be at war. And as much as Mr. Tyler is a control freak, knowing his future son-in-law is capable, calm, and grounded has its benefits. He won’t be the spotlight hugger like her previous boy toys that tends to lead to cheating and breakups. He is not a money leech who will become an extravagant wastrel, leading to a messy, public, and expensive divorce. They could be a great match, with Guy just enough like her father to provide stability and completely different enough to give her the freedom she needs.

And they look cute together. (-: Awwwwwww…. (But I do prefer romantic stories where the protagonists actually have a chance of staying together, as is the case here.)

  101. Katy Says:

I absolutely LOVE Daisy’s hair! I would love to do mine like that, but I made a promise to myself years ago that once my hair started turning grey or white or whatever it wanted to turn, I’d leave it be and stop dying it - until I get REALLY old, and then I’ll probably start with the purples and such again … hee hee heeh ….

  102. Angus the cat Says:

Is there a reason that I can’t see the colour version? Does the internet hate my computer, or is it hidden somewhere?

  103. Ace Says:

I was wondering the same thing

  104. Angus the cat Says:

There it is! OMG… Daisy’s hair IS amazing…

  105. Anonymous Says:

I imagine the color’s not showing up for some people because your computer is quick-loading the B/W stored in your cache.
