Interesting that Guy knows contraction screams and what to do. Perhaps a teenage pregnancy at the school? Ana doesn’t have a chance to resist him, does she? LOL
oh wow. unexpected. I too wonder how he knew the scream, and almost think of him as the type that tried medical school at some point… maybe in a maternity ward… He’s smart enough and his background isn’t 100% clear as of yet…. but then the teen preg theory makes some sense as well….. Though I can’t imagine that enough teenage girls in his class have given birth during the school year let alone started labor while in his classroom for him to actually recognize the scream… I forget if it’s mentioned if he’s an only child or has any siblings… a kid with lots of siblings would maybe know… oh there’s mom’s we’re having the baby now scream…. anyone know if that was mentioned?
btw, was SO reading sore thumbs, and I totally loved the ref to this comic and just about died when I saw it come up!!! totally love both comics and think parker and harmony would be cute together, though I have to be sad since obviously things don’t work out…. or maybe parker was just that in love with stasia that she didn’t notice the cute fun harmony crushing on her from afar….

Really people yall never heard a woman in labor. There is a scream of pain because a bowling ball is coming out of you. Then there is a scream of terror and crying if you are getting hurt some way. A labor scream is long and loud and then stops and starts up again….

Now, we had better get to SEE Guy directing this birth, here. I don’t mean graphic, or anything, but I don’t want the next panel to be “One birth later” with Stasia all “Oh, Guy, you were wonderful!” or something like that. No cheating, dudes! The build-up for this scene was too good for you to waste.

Logically, Guy only knows that scream because his secret hobby is categorizing screams. This one is his favorite.
That is very interesting that like a gahjillion guesses said it was a woman in labor. Good Job Guys.

It was said much earlier that Guy is a school counselor, not a teacher.

I thought that the person in the hut would turn out to be Christain and he had spotted Guy and thus was screaming like a little girl. Totally wrong there as it turns out.
Since when has Guy delivered kids. Like Jann said he’s a school counsellor. Is it a rough urban school with lots of pregnant kids or something? Or… I got nothing. Besides the scream catalogue that steve put forward.
Poor Janny. I thought that if anyone was going to give birth first in the series it would be her. She’s been piped at the post. Then again I’m sure she doesn’t want to give birth in a far flung corner of Africa.

There were a number of people on the previous page what called this particular scenario. Seems like Guy and Parker between them have cornered a market on at least slightly out of the ordinary experiences, here. How often do you see a high-school guidance counselor who knows how to deliver a baby, or can drink cow’s blood without blanching?
Though come to think of it knowledge of birthing might actually be part of the job description for some. Meh.
Okay I knew it was labor don’t ask me why just made sense to me some how.
As for Guy knowing the screames as a Counsler he would actually hear it alot. At one of my schools a girl went into labor due to stress over finals and stress can do it in fact any strong emotions or shock could do it near the end. Well any how the school counsler was called in to keep her calm till the paramedics got there. I would imagine Guy being the kind of well guy he is would research and learn the basics needed in case of an emergency such as school blackout lock down or any such situation.
He would also probable be the one called in first for any such times. And don’t going thinking that just because the year has barely started I think that he wouldn’t have done this already. Last time I looked at a survey it was 7-12 pregnant stundents per school on average and their labors are going to be all over the year not in a nice straight block of time.
Then it’s a good thing Guy’s ignoring that, since she might need his help. It’s also not culturally acceptable for those women’s only villages to exist in the first place, but they did it anyway, since it was the best thing for them. I’m sure the pregnant woman doesn’t mind his presence.

I doubt she could arrange for someone to go into labor on such short notice. Anyway, Guy is so cool, calm & collected. And he knows how to deliver a baby (or so it seems)! Oh yeah, and the double update is very much appreciated! I love this comic!
