  1. Lisa Says:

Or was it “Kool-aid”? Nummer blood.

    Instant flashback to Last Blood.

  2. Sneh Says:

i just LOVE this page XD

  3. Jana Says:

    Test passed with flying colors!

  4. nekki Says:

lol that totally rocked. guy really is a local boy

  5. Scribbles Says:

    I lol’d.

Not the reason I was expecting, though, I’ve no idea what I was expecting ;P

  6. nekki Says:

though now that i think of it.. guy didn’t exactly pass that test.. he kinda freaked her out

  7. shrimphead Says:

I’m not sure if i’d prefer the kool-aid or the blood.

  8. James Says:

I love the look of her face in panel five. I’ve been reading this comic for sometime now, you do good work sir. I salute ye!

  9. Alex Says:

Actually, he passed the test with flying colors. The test was to see how much he’d freak out, his tolerance for different cultures, different views. Instead she’s freaked out. Turnabout’s fair play, no?

  10. William Says:

Blood doesn’t really taste all that bad. Has a little bit of an iron taste to it.

When i’ve gotten bad cuts before I’ve sucked my blood to clean the wound /shrug

I can’t imagine cows blood is much different in taste, probably less of an iron taste.

  11. Eiríkr Says:

I’m jealous. I want one of my lesbian friends to start drinking blood with me, too.

  12. Chelle Says:

WOOT, figured Guy would drink it, didn’t even cross my mind that Parker would too, man Parker is creepy/awesome. Love panel five, Stasia looks kinda worn down and slightly evil, which is awesome. Loving the LASTBLOOD/ MARRY ME cross over. Tis brilliant. Maybe her next test will be to make them kill ZOMBIES!!!

  13. Sierra Monroe Says:

    xD Stasia is tricky.

  14. Russ Says:

But Janny knows about the test, right? So, if she had to ask, this is presumably not it.

  15. Pamela Says:

    HAHAHAHAHA GO GUY AND PARKER!!!!

Oh, I do so love this. I love the rueful look in Guy’s face in panel four. It’s the look of ‘Meh, can ya do?’

LOL this comic is STILL rockin!!!

  16. Evil713 Says:

im not shure if he passed the test, more like voided the test.

if it was a cultural test the two real outcomes are “Blood! WTF!” and “When in Rome…”

the test accuracy requires no former blood drinking, and if anything now the wife is freaked.

  17. Bobby Crosby Says:

“But Janny knows about the test, right? So, if she had to ask, this is presumably not it.”

    http://www.marrymemovie.com/main/2008/03/13/page-64-turn-here/#comment-11954

I don’t recall taking any tests that only had one problem to solve.

  18. [ taran ] Says:

i feel kinda sad, it seems to me that stasia just lost all the cool points she scored from the previous page and then one or two extra. i mean the drinking blood and the attitude she gave with it was awesome but then you find out she was giving that attitude and faking it? dont get me wrong i still think she is awesome, just not as awesome

  19. Evil713 Says:

ok so he voided the first question in the test that is possable marrage.

  20. Bobby Crosby Says:

“ok so he voided the first question in the test that is possable marrage.”

It was somewhere around the 10th question. And I’d describe it as him passing it a bit too well.

  21. Melinda Good Says:

she may know about the test, but may be unsure of if the drinks would really be blood or not. She never had a reaction to the test itself, just asked about weather Stas had used real blood or not, and wondered what she had been using for her own drink…. maybe none of her bf’s ever made it to that test before…..

  22. Bobby Crosby Says:

Janny had no prior knowledge of the blood drinking. My thinking is that Stasia went to Umoja before with Christian and they were both offered blood and Stasia drank it, didn’t like it, and Christian refused. Stasia probably called Rebecca (she previously gave Umoja a satellite phone, which will come up later in the comic) while she was making Guy load up the truck himself (Page 65, Panel 4, which was one of the tests, by the way) and asked her to have blood and Kool-Aid waiting for them, as one of the “And then some” (Page 53, Panel 5) parts of the test.

  23. moebius8 Says:

Its a bit weak to ask others to do something you arent willing to do yourself. If she is willing to force Guy to drink blood as some kind of test then she shouldn’t be willing to drink kool-aid. she comes off to me like shes playing games in a contest where the rules apply to everyone else other than her.

  24. Bobby Crosby Says:

Like I just said, she’s tried the blood before, and there’s no reason to think she hasn’t tried it before. She simply saw it as a one-time deal kind of thing, not something she wanted to get into the habit of doing often, since she didn’t like it and it grossed her out.

  25. moebius8 Says:

fair enough, i hope guys gungho attitude so far is making an impression. loading a truck then drinking bloomoo after a bouncy ride in the back of the truck says alot about his willingness to meet Stasia more than halfway.

  26. Bill M. Says:

Wow… Denny sure does look relieved that he doesn’t have to drink blood. Of course, some of us who were raised Christian (the relilgion, not the character) would have an aversion to blood based on the scriptures about blood equalling life and the command not to consume blood, and for the non-Christians, the number of times they’ve had coagulated blood pizzas on Fear Factor with other gross toppings, eating/drinking blood is a taboo most probably wouldn’t cross.

Also, with Guy impressing Rebecca, the leader of the village, will Stasia worry about possibly losing her maybe/maybe-not husband?

And now I will sit back and await the potential racist accusations over the kool-aid and Africans, and all that jazz…

  27. Gaz Says:

What on earth was Stasia expecting guy to do?
I figured this was some test or initiation into the tribe thingy, and that Guy passed, as did Parker, why stasia gone all “dun-dun-dun” in panel #5 I do NOT know.
    She’s wierd.

  28. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I figured this was some test or initiation into the tribe thingy”

It’s a women’s only village and Stasia said only the guys (Guy and Denny) had to drink it in order to have lunch with them. It was meaningless — just her testing Guy to see if he’d drink it, but she had to make it seem like there was some other reason for it, so she said Denny had to also (all males). Her expectation of Guy was that he’d be a little freaked out but probably still drink it after considering it briefly. Instead he acted like it was “cool,” like he said, and then revealed that he’s drank blood several times before. Bit creepy.

  29. Kamui Says:

Hmm, I wonder what other interesting things Guy has done Stasia might not have accounted for. Should be interesting to see :3

  30. annekat Says:

    ahahaha. awesome!
kinda sad that stasia only drank kool aid. but that’s ok to each their own right

  31. Jonathan Says:

Well, that was out of left field, Parker really doesn’t seem like the type to be into the whole vampire seen, although I suppose this does explain why Guy does whatever she says, what with the mind control and all.

  32. Prez-Liz Says:

I actually logged on and found TWO pages to look at! Unheard of.
I love this comic. I love the art, and I love the story. Sure, it’s not “Fantasy Rhelms” or some fancy **** like that, but you know what? I’m getting laughs, I’m in suspense, and I care about these characters. Mission: Accomplished, dudes!
So, keep those WOWIO issues coming!

  33. ivan Says:

Given all of the “OMG! Stasia didn’t drink the blood BS” I think that we’re missing one of Guy’s strong points being pointed out. Yeah, Guy drank the blood, though I think it has more to do than being a “local boy” from Oklahoma, though we do that in Maine too so props to you guys. Parker is his best friend, and yeah the vampire marathon thing is kinda creepy, but Guy drank blood with Parker as a friend. That’s called being supportive. Now I’m going to make a guess that Guy actually sees Ana as his wife. Thus he downed the mug of blood to be supportive of her goals in regards to what she’s doing in this village. So regardless if this was part of the test or not, it highlights one of Guy’s strong points, and I’m kind of shocked that no one else saw that.

  34. Prez-Liz Says:

I missed that too, but ivan is definitely right. Guy is a cool… well, Guy. Although I don’t know if he sees her as his wife yet. He seems kind of laid-back about the whole thing. Whatever feelings he has, he’s playing them close to the vest.

  35. Theinen Says:

I’m liking this comic too, but I see you’ve painted, or written actually, yourself into the same corner as with LB GN1. So many ideas, so little pages. Good stuff though.

Haven’t really read any comments other than this page, but is it me or is Guy being friends with Parker sort of has him conditioned for Stasia? lol. I mean she’s her biggest fan, probably a bigger fan than Anko is to LB. So naturally Guy would have to hear “Stasia did this” and “Stasia did that” every now and then. And then she has her own little eccentrics and Guy just gets dragged along with her. Not to mention that seemingly everything she does triggers a reaction from Guy that makes Stasia like him more. (yea i think she liked watching Christian prove he has a glass jaw, but she has an image to keep). Parker’s the ultimate cheat code to getting a superstar wife.

  36. Theinen Says:

two posts went up as i was reading/posting soo….Yeah, I noticed that too Ivan. And yea, i think he does view her as his wife already. Given the fact that Parker won’t let him just walk away from it. And on his own account, his first action was to get to know her. He asked questions, read her book and is going along with what she’s doing and asking of him. Or, like he said, could just be doing it so people won’t say he’s gay. (j/k don’t need attacks about that >.>)

  37. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I see you’ve painted, or written actually, yourself into the same corner as with LB GN1. So many ideas, so little pages.”

Well, LB had a specific page deadline as well as a specific time deadline, whereas MM only has the time deadline, but that of course affects the amount of pages too, since you can only do so many pages in such little time. I simply wrote too slowly for MM. Should have finished the whole thing months ago, but oh well.

  38. Rosebud Says:

Stasia is so adorably gullible! (Is she really that gullible?)

And Denny was priceless. I think Parker redeemed herself to him. (As well as doing her best to help out Guy.)

  39. psychop Says:

Woooohooooo :-D now this one turned me into non stopping laughing maniac :-D

  40. Jandalman Says:

Awesome comic! I cannot wait till I can get the whole complete series in book form! Keep up the extremely awesome work!

  41. CostanzaK Says:

I looooove this comic. “Cool. Bottoms up.”

I actually had a teacher thats traveled around the world three times in his 60+ years and he’s actually chilled with Masai warriors and drank their cow’s blood drink. Apparently it’s a mix of milk and blood.

He also walked into the Kremlin. Yeah. He walked into the Spy capitol building of the world. Says he was able to do it because he stuck to the first floor and acted like he belonged here.

But I’m really surprised that everyone is all, “I can’t believe Stacia pulled this kind of trick!” Guys, she’s a woman. No matter who, there is no woman who is not above setting up harmless tests that they would rather not undertake themselves. From, “Lets see how long it takes him to notice and clean the dishes,” to “I wonder if he’ll embrace a different cultural experience that involves drinking blood.”

It’s just how women think. Women need evidence. Thats why engagement rings were made. What, you thought men came up with the idea?

  42. Bartimaeus Says:

    They been had.

Ok, not really. Blood just tastes like iron. It’s not bad. (I found this out the one time I got a nosebleed.)

THAT SAID, I don’t think the bit where Stasia got to drink Kool-Aid was that fair.

  43. Magical Mimi Says:

My big question is ‘Where did that blood come from’?

Just think about it, a whole town of nothing but women handing out mugs of blood for guys to drink? There are plenty of ways to be ‘evil’ about the type of blood and how you get it (or at least ways to have a good laugh at the idiot drinking the odd/you don’t want to know where it came from blood).

  44. Cower Says:

    Muahahahaha…. oh… wow…

  45. Cower Says:

    About test passing.
If test was about _culture tolerance_ IMO Guy _not_ passed it.
Test itself is meaningless if person who is tested is accustomed to the subject. (here it is “Blood Drinking”)
It WOULD be real test if Gyu had _never_ drinked blood before.
    That is IMHO

  46. Cower Says:

btw lack of background and simple cell formation – is very depressing.

  47. coder Says:

it seems too weird, even for this comic, for them to really be such enthusiastic blood drinkers….

perhaps the drinks for the “guys” were also kool-aid, and they just played a little trick on stasia?

guy might have read some hints about the “test” in the journal, somehow had time to chat up with rebecca while they were unloading the truck and set this up?

No, that’s a cheat. You can’t put something in a story cannon and then turn around and say, oh yeah, there was this too that I didn’t put in. If it’s not in the story, then it’s not part of the story. Case in point: J.K. Rowling saying, “Oh, now that the whole story is over, Dumbledore’s gay.”

  49. Murder Junkie Says:

I very much want to download the pdfs of your comic, and in doing so, support yous in the way only the internet can(something from nothing)… But I live in CANADA, and that site only accepts membership from USA citizens. *sigh* So, I’ll continue to support by voting on TWC! It’s not money, but posterity counts for something, right?

  50. Chadling Says:

I’m personally torn. On one hand, it seems to me as too weird for even Parker to participate in, and on the other…. well… it seems to me that a healthy sense of adventure (or at least resignation) would be necessary to just get through the day as Parker’s buddy.

  51. Adrienne Says:

I’m disappointed with you stasia. :(

You drinking blood was sexy and awesome. Why did you wuss out and ruin it?

  52. Loreley Says:

Apart from what some have stated to be a local custom . . . really, where’s the difference between eating a very rare steak and drinking blood? :P Parker’s vampire marathon made for good laughs, though – totally unexpected. And I don’t think Guy freaked Stasia out so much as left her totally flabbergasted.

  53. Eisu Says:

“it seems too weird, even for this comic, for them to really be such enthusiastic blood drinkers….”

What’s so weird about it? Do we know what Guy and Parker does back in Oklahoma in their spare time? Now we do, Parker is part of an online “Vampire” community and Guy just helps and supports Parker in what she does… there’s no real “weird” since we don’t really know these two that well. We know their characters, but we don’t fully know their history, I think this addition is more like a glimpse at a little of their history and not weird…

  54. Richard Says:

“theirs was (real blood) my was kool-aid”
ohhh, she is a tricky lady
awesome work as always keep it up.

  55. invaderhog Says:

    wow… when I thought Parker and Guy couldn’t get any cooler… awesome…

  56. Zahooee Says:

Am I the only one that noticed Guy’s little hesitation when he was talking about Parker being “a member of, uh, an online vampire society” and thought that maybe he was making it up as he went along?

I could be off the mark, but, since we know that Guy knows about “the test,” I wonder if he isn’t playing things up a bit to freak Stasia out on purpose.

Of course, for that to work he’d have to get Parker to play along a bit, but I figure Parker would have guzzled gasoline if she thought it’d make Staia happy….

  57. Stefii Says:

You would think that she would be happy to see that they are so open minded

  58. Stefii Says:

and about stasia being unfair drinking kool aid, she probably did it before and/or she is a vegitarian right?

  59. JKPS613 Says:

    Excellent! Go Guy!
Well, at least it was cow’s blood. I myself have never had cow’s blood before (although I have had blood).
w00t w00t Guy has passed one of Stasia’s tests!

  60. MC13 Says:

Well, I know around these parts, it is (or at least was) custom for hunters to drink a cup of deer blood from their first ever kill (owing to old Indian tradition). So it probably wouldn’t be too far a stretch for a country boy.

  61. Tseng Says:

That’s a really good point, Zahooee. He might have brought Parker in on it too. Being part of an online vampire society isn’t something you would expect a Stasia fan to be (we’ve already established that she’s definitely on the pop side of music.) I don’t know anyone who’s actually into the blood-drinking fetish personally, but I’ve seen some short documentaries on the subject and they seem mostly goth in style. If Parker really is part of such a society, they probably don’t treat her very kindly because of her music and style choices. So it’s probably just Guy being determined to pass her tests and make it up.

  62. Alex Says:

Now I want to see if there actually is a vampire marathon.

  63. Prez-Liz Says:

“THAT SAID, I don’t think the bit where Stasia got to drink Kool-Aid was that fair.”

Interesting point, Bartimaeus. But Stasia doesn’t have to drink blood to go into the woman-only village, because she’s already a woman.

Hey, Bobby. Is Stasia a vegetarian?

  64. Kristin Says:

I agree with Zahooee- I think the whole vampire thing was made up on the spot. Like Parker made up the whole pirates thing on the plane. I think Guy realized it’s a test and decided to tweak her by throwing in something completely unexpected.

  65. Jillster Says:

I remember seeing something on TV that showed African villagers drinking blood mixed with milk. I still get queasy thinking about that! :P

  66. dude Says:

this is the best page i read

  67. Menneke Says:

Ok, this is just plain weird. Why do they have to drink blood?
Why is Parker a would-be vampire, all of a sudden? There has to be another story to this, otherwise I’m walking away from a perfectly good comic… so far.

  68. hihihihihi Says:

    updated every hour? yea right!

  69. Alicia Says:

LOLz I heart this page so much.

  70. Bobby Crosby Says:

“My big question is ‘Where did that blood come from’?”

A cow, like Parker just said on this page. They have many cows. I’ll link to this again –

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meEz3qV_RRc

Watch from 6:02 to 6:49, or just watch the whole thing if you want to learn more about Umoja.

“No, that’s a cheat. You can’t put something in a story cannon and then turn around and say, oh yeah, there was this too that I didn’t put in. If it’s not in the story, then it’s not part of the story. Case in point: J.K. Rowling saying, ‘Oh, now that the whole story is over, Dumbledore’s gay.’ ”

LOL, you have no brain in your head and I’ll very happily be compared to J.K. Rowling in any possible way. Did you happen to read Page 66 where it was revealed that Stasia had seen Rebecca before, which strongly implies that she had been to Umoja before? It’s just common sense that she probably tried the blood before, but it doesn’t matter in any conceivable way to me. The only reason I mentioned it is because people were strangely mad at Stasia for tricking Guy and being unfair, which I think is stupid for a large amount of reasons, especially since Guy and Parker wanted to drink it anyway. It’s obviously a fairly pointless thing in general, though, just like Dumbledore’s sexuality. It does not matter if Stasia drank blood before and it doesn’t matter if Dumbledore is gay, which is why both things were left out of the writing. It’s disgustingly stupid to call either one a “cheat.”

“On one hand, it seems to me as too weird for even Parker to participate in”

vampirefreaks.com — Almost 1.5 million members, and I’m not even one of them, and there are tons of other sites like that. And Parker has been shown to be pretty damn insane in the little we’ve seen of her so far.

“And I don’t think Guy freaked Stasia out so much as left her totally flabbergasted.”

    Agreed.

“Am I the only one that noticed Guy’s little hesitation when he was talking about Parker being ‘a member of, uh, an online vampire society’ and thought that maybe he was making it up as he went along?”

Not making it up, totally true, million possible reasons for saying “uh” at times.

“Now I want to see if there actually is a vampire marathon.”

    “Is Stasia a vegetarian?”

No one in the story is a vegetarian.

“I remember seeing something on TV that showed African villagers drinking blood mixed with milk.”

No milk mixed with this blood, just to let you guys know.

“Why do they have to drink blood?”

Read the damn comments, or grow a brain. Obviously part of Stasia’s test for Guy to see if he’s willing to embrace what other cultures do and blah blah blah.

“Why is Parker a would-be vampire, all of a sudden?”

Why not? Vampires are extremely popular and she’s one of the millions of people out there who would like to be one. When I saw the part of the Umoja video linked above in this same comment where Rebecca drank the blood, I knew I had to have that in the comic in some way and I decided it should be part of the “test” for Guy, then I had to figure out what his reaction would be. It had to be something that wasn’t boring, since boring things aren’t supposed to be in the comic, so he had to have an unexpected response, and this is what I came up with.

“There has to be another story to this, otherwise I’m walking away from a perfectly good comic… so far.”

    Good, walk away, bye.

  71. Wolf Says:

    Awesome comic so far.

  72. Norman728 Says:

Wow, Can’t to see what’s next. I’m thinking Guy is no fool and was expecting something like this to happen. (if I remember he did overhear Stasia planning something) and Stasia was flummoxed when Guy didn’t flinch at her request.(so i guess she’s either going to come up with something else or resign herself to fate.) as for Parker drinking the blood (STASIA was asking!, the Vampire thing was just a bonus). and Keep Denny around his fluctuating demeanor is hilarious especially when Parker is around to bug him. I am anxiously awaiting the Resolution and when I get a chance I WILL order the GN(I did have to explain the comic to my local shop near where i work. and the manager is willing to order it) so BRING IT ON!!!

Personally I saw the pause as Guy taking a moment to think “Do I really want to tell my new wife, that i’ve know for less than forty-eight hours, that my best friend drinks blood in her spare time”

  77. Desirae Says:

This page makes me giggle. I love how Guy just takes in stride instead of freaking out. Though Stasia looked a little disgusted by the fact he drank blood before. I wonder if they will talk about it later on. And Parkers enthusiam over the drinking blood is great. I would do it to experience the culture and all that. Your a guest in the village might as well embrace the customs.

I wonder if Rebecca is apart of another test that Stasia is going to put guy through considering she asked him to sit next to her. ^_^

Loving the comic more and more!

  78. Greyman Says:

You should always be careful when trying to freak someone out, least they freak you out by passing the test.

  79. CostanzaK Says:

I feel so sorry for you Bobby, but all this contention is also a good thing. The sign of a good comic is one where everyone acts like an idiot because they love it so much that they try to nit pick it into whatever form they prefer.

I agree, Stacia drinking the blood was sexy-awesome. That is officially a word now.

I thought that Stacia setting up a fake drink for herself was super-awesome. Shows forethought, creative thinking, and a frisky personality.

You are using true cultural existances in a creative and very humorous way and people are trying to wuss it up a little. I for one think it’s perfectly natural for someone as insane as Parker to be a wanna be vamp. And as for forcing Guy to participate, drinking blood might be like drinking booze. It’s more fun to have a drinking partner. But what got me was that fact that Parker knew the species of blood just from the taste. 0.0

And you keep on going and being super-bad-slick-awesome (Triple word score!), because everyone that says they’re leaving is just putting up a huff and will be back in a week despite the talk. So don’t let the vocal minority pull you down. Writer Power!

  80. Depre Says:

Bobby, vampirefreaks.com is NOT a vampire-wannabe-society site, but a gothic site XD. google it first, then write, k? ;)

But the comic rocks my socks, as always.

  81. Bobby Crosby Says:

I looked at several profiles of people on that site and many of them clearly seemed to be vampire wannabes.

  82. Jon Pander Says:

I know Bobby already answered this but I still need to say this:

“Why is Parker a would-be vampire, all of a sudden?”
Because Bobby is setting us up for a Last Blood/Marry Me crossover where we find that Guy or Parker is actually Big Black’s sire.

“There has to be another story to this, otherwise I’m walking away from a perfectly good comic… so far.”

*salute* Truly, he was the best of us all…..

“J.K. Rowling saying, ‘Oh, now that the whole story is over, Dumbledore’s gay.’ ””
Duuude…. the guy hung had a fixation on Harry. It was obvious. He wanted some hot gay wizardling lovin’.

  83. Jon Pander Says:

    Additional comment:

Not much of a test :) Drinking blood…. Heck, I think most guys would eat raw Monkey Brains to do the horizontal mambo with FHM’s #2 hottest babe on their list.

Cmon, admit it guys. You would.

    Even Dumbledorf would.

“Heck, I think most guys would eat raw Monkey Brains to do the horizontal mambo with FHM’s #2 hottest babe on their list.

Cmon, admit it guys. You would.”

I wouldn’t. I’d drink blood, though, if I was truly attracted.

  86. Depre Says:

Yeah, that what some goth guys do. I have a profile on vampirefreaks.com and I assure you, I’m a regular gothic lolita, not a vampire-wannabe ;)

Love, peace and more updates! :)

  87. Sierra Monroe Says:

Not sure if you’ve heard it.
    There’s a song called ” marry me”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60nHo8vl_fM

    :”3

  88. Sierra Monroe Says:

BTW…Im thinkin of doing a slide-show with your comic..
would you mind if I did so?
    >> just so I can say I had the rights.
IF not…the picture’s and music will go on in my head :”D

  89. Bobby Crosby Says:

Cool. And yeah, you have permission, sure.

  90. Devlan Says:

Speaking of tests.. The village leader dragging off Guy to sit with her? Probably also part of the tests to see if Guy is trustworthy enough. (wouldn’t run off with another woman)

Awesome comic, keep those freak-show-Parker-yells coming!

  91. Mel Says:

Hehe wow I go away for a couple weeks and look what I get…YAY!

  92. Dude Says:

Dawww, No Blood Mustache for panel 2?

  93. DaftOne Says:

I looked at that vampire freaks site, its both creepy and sad. I guess people just have a certain fascination with the percieved darkness in the world, but you really don’t have to look to hard, humans are the darkest creatures I can imagine. Well, that was pointless, but I do love the comic.

  94. Daniel Says:

I love Stasia’s face in panel 5. She looks absolutely mortified,

  95. [ taran ] Says:

“The only reason I mentioned it is because people were strangely mad at Stasia for tricking Guy and being unfair, which I think is stupid for a large amount of reasons, especially since Guy and Parker wanted to drink it anyway”

in my defense i wasnt annoyed at stasia for tricking them i was just sad because in the previous page it was so damn cool but when you look back and it is kool-aid it just.. well isnt as cool.

i dont care whether or not she has drank it or not, and i wasnt calling her a hypocrite. just not as awesome =p

  96. bob Says:

i think stasia tricking guy works well, she is after all making up tests for him, and i guess could come clean, helping them to ‘bond’ later. not that i am a writer!

parker being a vampire wannabe… brilliant!

    =)

  97. Jenn Says:

Ha… HAHAHA.. I love Stasia and her tricks..

It’s kinda weird that Parker and Guy are off drinking blood on their own time though.. XD

  98. Jenn Says:

oh yeah… and that look on her face when they actually drank it, PRICELESS!

  99. Dani Says:

I think the kool-aid comment is being far too over-analyzed. It’s very clear humor is a big part of the story, and that comment is made to be funny, or at the very least ironic. And who’s to say that Stasia just isn’t a very good blood drinker? She wanted to make it look like she was a blood-drinking pro, like it was normal, to see how Guy reacted to potential culture-shock.

Besides. He doesn’t even know he’s being tested. So fairness is really a moot point. ;)

Also, it’s a comic, and potential movie. We obviously don’t always read comics and watch movies for realism and fairness, now do we?

Anyways, Parker and Guy are hilarious. Stasia couldn’t have seen that coming!

  100. Enamor Says:

I would be at least slightly hesitant to drink blood in Africa.

Wouldn’t want to get the Kool-AIDS.

  101. Jon Pander Says:

    Kool-AIDS. :) I love it!

Just goes to show you… Making fun of tragically deadly diseases can be fun, kids!

    Seriously that was hilarious :)

  102. masozravapalma Says:

Boiled pork soup is a traditional food in my country, too. And I’m from central Europe.
I have to admit I never ate it.

  103. Tseng Says:

Hmmmm. Okay, so I’m assuming here that “Vampire” refers to the vampire subculture, and not to Last Blood style walking undead vampires. If so, and if Parker’s not just making this up (as Bobby says she’s not,) methinks she’s in for a bit of a rude awakening. I’m sure there are perky, pop-star loving folks in the vampire subculture, but the sad fact is subcultures tend to be just as harsh to their nonconformists as mainstream society is. Moreso at times, since they tend to be more tightly knit groups.

Yeah, I’m just more or less babbling. Now I shall resort to Tseng’s tried and true method for dealing with situations of foreshadowing that make no sense to him. “Enjoy the comic and trust the author not to suck.”

  104. Iason Says:

Aaaaaaaa, NOOOOO!!! I just found this comic and read all the pages!
IT WAS GOOD! But what do I do now? I have to wait… :(

  105. Jon pander Says:

Bartimaeus: “Ok, not really. Blood just tastes like iron. It’s not bad. (I found this out the one time I got a nosebleed.)”
And what does iron taste like? You must have teeth like Jaws from James Bond movies or somethin’.

Cower: “About test passing. If test was about _culture tolerance_ IMO Guy _not_ passed it. Test itself is meaningless if person who is tested is accustomed to the subject. (here it is “Blood Drinking”)”
Well he’s obviously VERY tolerant of other cultures if he’s even tolerant of the online vampire culture. Talk about a far-out-there culture.

  106. Jon pander Says:

btw, I actually do know someone who’s into that whole vampire goth culture thing. And from what I’ve seen, he has one thing in common with vampires. They both have no life. :)

  107. genny Says:

    i love this comic

  108. Shan Says:

I know this has proabably been said and I’ve missed it, but I just think that the look on Stasia’s face in the first panel is as priceless as a mastercard add.

  109. Bobby Crosby Says:

I like the Panel 3 expression best. This is the reference I gave to Eisu for that panel –

    http://joecarr.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/bewildered1.jpg

  110. Jared Says:

Wow. i’m not to much a fan of any romantic… anythings. but i do seem to absolutely LOVE this!!! especially the small feuds between denny and parker. its a very nice comic and cant wait for this to be completely finished.

  111. Laura Says:

There have been so many awesome updates I’ve forgotten to lurk on the comments!

  112. David Says:

I found two of your comics, Last Blood and this one, at about 5 and I just finished the first Story of Last Blood and got caught up on this one.
Excellent writing and two amazing artists.

Also I lol’d at seeing your MS Paint slowly get better, I think it is about time that you moved up to a real photoshop program.

  113. David Says:

I guess it would be at three in your time zone.

    Pacific Daylight Time
    imirite?

  114. Bobby Crosby Says:

I hate change (sticking with MS Paint).

    I’m in Los Angeles (Pacific).

  115. Jenn Says:

Wait.. Bobby, you guys use MS PAINT?

Thats awesome… how do you get it so perfect?!

    I just switched to photoshop, so… annoying.. ~__~;;

  116. Anko Says:

“Wait.. Bobby, you guys use MS PAINT?”

Bobby uses MS Paint for the sketches he sends Eisu as a reference for the actual artwork. Here’s the one for this page: http://www.marrymemovie.com/mm67layout.JPG
I’m assuming that you thought the actual comic is drawn in MS Paint, which I’m sure isn’t the case.

  117. David Says:

    Two comments:
    1) I wouldn’t put it beyond Stasia to have tried blood as a cultural tolerance type of thing, but it does seem very much unlike her to enjoy drinking blood. Drinking a cup of blood was probably a somewhat drawn out process filled with restrained facial expressions. She probably had kool-aid to appear cool about drinking blood in front of Guy and to avoid having to drink it again herself.

    2) Guy probably overheard the whole bit about how she was going to test him. Re-read panels 52 and 53. Whether that is affecting his actions is hard to determine.

  118. Ganjamann Says:

Just wanted to say this comic rules!

  119. Jenn Says:

    Anko… LOL..

I have to explore this page more than just the comic itself and comics, huh? ((that is, if the roughs are even linked here, somewhere…))

Eisu, do you draw freehand or use a graphic tablet?
    ——-
BTW, Probably gonna DL the comix very soon. :D
Getting internet on my laptop next week. ((FINALLY))

I found Marry Me while looking for stuff to entertain me during work… thus I have made it a work ritual to come in, get online, check for updates, and post. :D

    love it..

You never got that zingy irony taste? 0_o ..o_0

Like.. when you accidently leave a bit of tin wrapper on a stick of gum and bite and AUUURGH.. hurts.. like.. a bitch… ’specially with fillings.

((or was it sarcasm.. Im slow with this stuff.. XD))

Remind me to think of what I wanna post before I do so, I noticed I have quite a few double posts. :)

  121. Evil713 Says:

    ok 2 things.

    1. what the hell, i have never seen this level of commentary outside a fansubed anime on youtube.

    2. what happend to the steady flow of new comics? we had a nice thing going most of the month.

  122. Ran Says:

    Dear Sir or Madame,

    We demand more comics.

    The undersigned.

  123. Jenn Says:

    BOBBY.. OMFG.

I JUST READ EVERY SINGLE DAMN PAGE OF LAST BLOOD.. beginning to end..

well… most recent at least.. :D

    is that shit published yet?

It’s friggen awesome… I’m sending it to everyone I know.

  124. Michael R. Says:

Ah, Kool-Aid… Just one of those american delights which I, a Swede, have learned about by consuming copious amounts of quality cartoons and comics (Alliteration! Yay!) but have never tasted. Other such things are Twinkies, Jell-O, and suchlike. So the next time you drink a glass of Kool-Aid, or eat a twinkie, remember that there are Swedes who would be overjoyed at a taste of it and think about how lucky you are.

Stasia is so adorably gullible! (Is she really that gullible?)
And Denny was priceless. I think Parker redeemed herself to him. (As well as doing her best to help out Guy.)
What the hell are you talking about? What is Stasia gullible about?
    Jim Says:
    March 24th, 2008 at 5:49 am
No, that’s a cheat. You can’t put something in a story cannon and then turn around and say, oh yeah, there was this too that I didn’t put in. If it’s not in the story, then it’s not part of the story. Case in point: J.K. Rowling saying, “Oh, now that the whole story is over, Dumbledore’s gay.”
    1) The author saying it makes it cannon, dumb ass.
    2) The story isn’t over; if he wanted to add more explanation he still could (though obviously none is necessary) so your comparison is inaccurate and kind of stupid.
    3) We know Stasia’s been there before, so it is reasonable to assume she has participated in many of their customs, including the blood drinking.
If you really need everything in a story explicitly spelled out for you then maybe you should go back to Dick and Jane books.

    Menneke Says:
    March 24th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Ok, this is just plain weird. Why do they have to drink blood?
Why is Parker a would-be vampire, all of a sudden? There has to be another story to this, otherwise I’m walking away from a perfectly good comic… so far.
    Bye dumbass.

    Devlan Says:
    March 25th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Speaking of tests.. The village leader dragging off Guy to sit with her? Probably also part of the tests to see if Guy is trustworthy enough. (wouldn’t run off with another woman)
Yeah, because the leader of the all female village who is good friends with Stasia is gonna be all over him. Oh, wait, you mean Stasia set it up with her ahead of time as part of the test? Oh, that makes sense then, ‘cause she obviously thinks guy is a horny womanizing bastard that will fuck anything that looks at him cross-eyed. Seriously, what planet are you from?

Best pun I’ve heard in ages. Thanks.

  126. Paul Merry Says:

Nice work, I just found this an hour ago and had to read it all.

    Keep it up.

  127. Jenn Says:

    Micah…

    You’re my new bestfriend. XD

  128. Orionsgate Says:

I like the abject look of shock in the first panel.

And I’m curious if she’s taken all those who have dated her here and how many of them handled the entire situation as well or near as well as I figure Guy will.

  129. Michael R. Says:

Hey, a thought just struck me: If the possibility to post comments hadn’t been here, then most people wouldn’t have had a problem with what they’re complaining about.

  130. Atari Says:

Since when do small African villages that need food rations have Kool-Aid on hand to whip out whenever Stacia calls?

(since this is a webcomic and not reality, obviously, but just a dumb little discrepancy)

  131. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Since when do small African villages that need food rations have Kool-Aid on hand to whip out whenever Stacia calls?”

Since Stasia gave it to them obviously, jeez.

  132. Anko Says:

Has anyone else noticed that the really stupid questions usually come from people who spell her name Stacia?

  133. Someone Says:

sigh.. and another comic that stalls… motivation people? It’s a good story and for once I’d like to know the full story… hell just write it out, sell it and then we would atleast finally know an ending to one of your stories…

I found it awfull that LastBlood got “postponed” because of this comic.. but now this apparently is postponed aswell already… <_<

Don’t get me wrong, I like it alot that you do this stuff and publish it on the internet for free… but when keep dropping comics like this then people aren’t gonna be interested anymore, since they already expect that the comic will end before the full story is revealed.. I know I do, and untill either LastBlood or MarryMe continue their storylines, I probably won’t read “another” new comic from you. :/

  134. Jon Pander Says:

Jenn: “You never got that zingy irony taste? 0_o ..o_0″
I tried to eat iron but I broke 3 teeth trying. Now I have fillings as well.

((or was it sarcasm.. Im slow with this stuff.. XD))”

Yep, it was sarcasm. I’m a very sarcastic person who likes to give zingers whenever possible. 90 percent of what I say is sarcastic. The other 10 percent is statistics I make up on the spot.

Except for the fact I happen to know that Shan -is- a giraffe (past comment page). That’s for reals.

  135. Bobby Crosby Says:

Someone: What the hell are you talking about? We just put out five pages in 15 days and there’s going to be about 25 pages in the next two months no matter what and just because there happens to be eight days without a comic you whine like crazy about who knows what? So annoying.

“but when keep dropping comics like this then people aren’t gonna be interested anymore, since they already expect that the comic will end before the full story is revealed.. I know I do”

Again, what the hell are you talking about? The first “Last Blood” film/GN story ended after 112 pages in under a year, averaging 2.25 pages per week. There was certainly no need to do a comic sequel, since it told a complete story, but we’re doing one anyway, so you’re welcome. There’s no reason ever for anyone to expect that any of these comics could end before the full story is revealed. If you expect that, then you have no brain, but that’s obvious, since you’ve already been banned before (multiple times probably) for spouting insane nonsense like this. Also, “Marry Me” had about 100,000 unique visitors and 400,000 pageviews last week, both new records for the site, so obviously no one else feels like you.

  136. E13 Says:

God forbid people sit back and enjoy the fact they’re getting professional-grade art and storytelling for free.

My God, the sense of entitlement is almost as bad as the Dominic Deegan boards… and Mook’s stuff isn’t half as good as this, IMO.

  137. Sethaius Says:

Wow, the nerve of -some- of these people. There’s thousands, nay…. millions of comics out there, and ALL of them have had hiatus’ of some sort at one time or another. It’s only natural dude…. they’re doing this without getting PAID, so naturally, they have a REAL LIFE to get to, with a job to do, in order to make money to be able to afford to give us these FREE comics…. So seriously people (the whining ones), get over the wait, find some more comics to read, and you’ll almost ALWAYS have something new to read to keep you occupied while you wait for more updates.

Pardon the rant, Bobby and Eisu, and the other loyal fans, I’ve just gotten fed up with people complaining about a gap in postings on something this wonder, and this free.

Can’t wait for the next one! Keep up the freaking amazing work!!!

  138. John M. Says:

Someone, why don’t you just wait for it to pop on Wowio if you really can’t stand the “stalling”? Either you like the comic or you don’t, but if you like it then the last thing you should be doing is stinking up the place with your self-important crap.

Personally, I have to thank you guys for putting this on Wowio–I have a MyBook drive with about a hundred comics on it, and this one is one of my favorites. Great writing, great art, great Caesar’s ghost!

  139. Umi Says:

this is my first comment, but I’ve read this all the way through. XD and I must say that I love this comic. Awesome job, Bobby and Eisu.
Also, I can’t believe I just got this, but Ana and Stacia are the two names she goes by, and there was a techno/pop singer called Anastacia in the 90s, I think. :3
… D: I feel slow on the uptake now.

  140. Jon Pander Says:

Yeah, I don’t feel a sense of entitlement, though I -am- still waiting for Bobby to come to each of our homes and serve us muffins and give complementary foot massages while we read his free comics.

And none of those store bought muffins. I ain’t havin’ no store bought muffins, uh uh.

Seriously though Someone, check around on the other webcomics. Seriously, check and compare, since you seem to have a lot of time on your hands to complain about this.
Comparatively speaking to most comics (especially long-storyline-based ones) Bobby updates ridiculously FAST. For each time there’s been a week or week a half pause (and 8 days is only a week and a day), there have also been weeks where he’s put out -several- in rapid succession within a week. On average his comic is actually one of the more frequent comics, especially for a story-based, non-”gag-a-day” comics. And the few times the updates have been slow are usually for a very good reason, like art supply problems, etc. Plus you also forget that in addition to Bobby making several webcomics, the artists for the comics have other comics that -they- are working on as well.

  141. Joe Says:

I just discovered this site the other day and I must say I want more now but I understand that it takes time to create something this good… and HEY E13, Dominic Deegan is brilliant, I mean that comic has only one person doing both the art and the writing

  142. Romashk Says:

She’s testing him? Cute. Mean, but cute. Hmm…

Maybe with number of boyfriends earlier mentioned one could see the need for all of this.

  143. Tristan Says:

Came across this comic recently by reference of a friend. He said two things: Pay attention to facial expressions and the dialog. You Mr. Crosby have done something that I have only seen one writer do before: you’ve somehow removed “perfect” dialect and seemingly … downgraded the wording, thus actually making it REAL, since human beings do not exchange words with the flowing perfection of 90% of the fluff out there. If I’m making sense here and hit the nail on the head I am unbelievably impressed with this writing, and if not I hope it didn’t come off as insulting! The facial expressions are brilliant, your characters are given more life than I thought possible in graphic novel format, your colors are rich and honest and your use of contour and blank space (specifically guy’s glasses) is very unique. I would LOVE to see this come to life on screen; I personally am going to pass this gem to a few friends of mine who are ‘in the biz’ simply because of how ensnared I’ve become over “an internet comic”

Cheers, I’ll be watching this one closely. Congratulations Bobby and Eisu on what may very well be a masterpiece.

  144. Bill M. Says:

And now, the obligitory April 1st posting of the Marry Me movie cast…

    Guy: Sean Connery

Sean Connery is a man’s man, and is sufficiently scruffy enough to be Guy.

    Stasia: Sophia Loren

To complement Sean, we need an idol from his era.

    Janny: Jamie Lynn Spears

Quite simply, she’s pregnant, no need for a preggo-suit.

    Parker: Christina Ricci

Goth & beauty rolled into one.

    Denny: Mike Tyson

Quite simply, muscles on top of muscles.

Thanks for reading, you may now return to your regularly scheduled comments.

  145. Michael R. Says:

    Here are my casting ideas:

    Denny: David Bowie.
    Stacia: David Bowie.
    Parker: David Bowie.
    Janny: David Bowie.
    And so on.

  146. Michael R. Says:

I just noticed the “Now updating every hour!” text! Very witty!

  147. Mystaia Says:

Just wanted to say regarding sub-cultures and Parker being a fan of Stasia while also a vampire… errr… since when is that not realistic? I have found those who belong to an alternative subculture to be far more open-minded than the average person. In fact, while I have about 30 friends who are goth/punk/alternative, and I go to club nights with them, and so far no one has ever had any issues with me being “normal”. I listen to pop and R&B, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hang out (we just don’t discuss music much). Considering Parker is a pretty weird lady, I can’t imagine any so called “freaks of society” having issues with her, even if she likes Stasia’s music.

That said, this is an awesome comic and I these last two pages are super awesome too!! People should really stop complaining! ^_~

  148. John M. Says:

    Michael R.,

I’m with you so far, but who is going to play David Bowie in the cameo?

  149. Stephanie Says:

Pork blood is a very common Chinese dish and is a favorite of mine. It’s kind of gelatin in texture and really good in ginger soup.

I can’t say I’ve ever had the liquid form, but it can’t be too different from the cooked form, right?

  150. Joe Says:

I say that David Bowie’s cameo would be done by a Bowie look alike
