Poor bus driver. They could have invited him along too.

I love how Guy is totally getting into it! And I love how every one else tags along, except the poor driver. I like how the one titlted panel gives the art a little twist and makes it fun for the reader to be a little distracted from the other straight panels. Excellent job Eisu!
Who gives a crap? Feel free to imagine a series of deleted scenes where they realize that Parker and Guy and Denny don’t have their passports and they have their passports express mailed to them to Miami and they stop there and pick them up before then flying to Nairobi. It’s not very difficult, but it is very boring and there’s no need to put it in the comic.
She’s Stasia…I mean come on, who is gonna stop one of the biggest recording stars of her time to ask for her passport…Its not like she is wearing a blood alcohol bracelet, or trying to get her kids back…duh.
Also, Stasia and Janny would of course have their passports. They’re constantly flying out of the country. They have their passports at all times. They just finished a world tour.
“What the the hell is with you all and africa?!”
Thats what i wan’t to say.
Well, beeing in africa, always triple Check the seal of Waterbottels because its making good money to sell own normal, recleared water as fresh one.
Me either. I originally started today’s blog post with “I want to go to Africa,” but then I chose to not be a liar and I changed it to something about the bus driver. I have no interest in going to any other country. Never left America.
I love Guy so much in this page. I also love the random driver guy. I bet he does want to get away before Stasia’s dad gets there and finds out that he has to get on another plane to chase his daughter…
Uh oh. Stasia has committed a cardinal sin for those wishing to escape pursuit. She’s left a trail. Bus driver man is so going to get it. Unless he’s a top notch professional trained never to give up secrets under interrogation. :p
I wouldn’t put it past Parker, as a semi-stalkery superfan, to carry her passport with her all the time and maybe make sure Guy’s was with them, just in case. I actually find it weirder that three women are getting on a plane and none of them is carrying a purse.
With your goal of selling this story to a movie studio, if we notice that they’re going to need passports, the execs who decide whether or not to buy your script (in whatever form it is eventually submitted) are going to notice they’re going to need passports. It’s a valid question no matter what the answer to it turns out to be or whether or not that answer appears in the final product.
As for the plane? I suggest Eisu check out http://www.bombardier.com to get some ideas for external structure and interior layout.
I feel sorry for Denny though. He’s a big guy and is going to feel mighty cramped in there.
Why does it matter if they need to get their shots or have their passports? This is a COMIC guys. Whenever I make comments about how impossible things are about TV or a movie, my parents have to tell me, “it’s just TV/a movie.” Now I’m carrying on the message to ya’ll. Just a comic. Chill out with the technicalities.
“As for the plane? I suggest Eisu check out http://www.bombardier.com to get some ideas for external structure and interior layout.”
Yeah, I know, i have a whole bunch of references for plane pictures in my PC but at the point of drawing this, it was the night before Eidulfitri, a celebration I celebrate being an Islam, I could care less about the accuracy, so I just took a glimpse at my reference and winged the rest.
Wow I totally fell in love with this comic and just read everything this moring. I think the passport thing is something the lawyers would deal with. I love the idea of going to africa and can’t wait to see how Ana and Guy’s relationship play out. If they aren’t ‘really’ married I hope that they will be at some point they make such a cute couple. As long as guy tries to remain guy and not let the lime light change him, it could just work. I also want to see more of her father as a character not just as the ‘big bad’.
“With your goal of selling this story to a movie studio, if we notice that they’re going to need passports, the execs who decide whether or not to buy your script (in whatever form it is eventually submitted) are going to notice they’re going to need passports. LOL. It’s not a valid question — it’s completely pointless — and the studio executives are smart enough to know that it’s completely pointless and is such an obvious deleted scene that it would never need to be in any script. You clearly know nothing about movies if you think this could be an issue in any conceivable way. One of the most important aspects to writing is leaving out all the boring, pointless stuff and only keeping the interesting stuff that moves the story forward. Only insane people and/or people who are pointlessly trying to nitpick anything they can to try to find “errors” would ever even think about the passports. All part of the off-screen movie. Just imagine a scene (or scenes) explaining the passport situation. It’s death on screen, laughably bad and pointless and clearly just put there to appease the 1% of the audience who is crazy about such things and may question it, while boring 99% of the audience and wasting everyone’s time.
“Is there a way Canadians can see these extras we’re getting teased about?”
Yes, as I’ve said about 20 times in the comments already. Just stick around and visit the site often and all of those things are being made available, currently as Top Web Comics voting incentives (changes every once in a while, so vote often).
I’m not quite sure if anyone has noticed yet, but I do believe that would be the same jet Stasia’s dad just took to get there, even if they are rich, they would only buy 1 jet… like come on!
And what happens when Daddy comes to find that they have run off in the only jet? does he take a commercial jet? does he go and splurge on a new jet just to chase Stasia? Does bus driver go with him?!?
They cou7ld have, but he probably has a wife and kids at home. His cell phone would ring that night, his wife would yell “Dinner’s getting cold! Where are you?”
“Africa.”
On the overly hashed and rehashed passport thing. I just watched a movie today, “Eurotrip,” where they travelled into several countries having lost their passports previously. Then they flew home, again with no passports. I think that if they had spent one second on that issue, it would have affected the flow of the movie. This is a comic, and not real life. In this comic, Stasia is a star. Who is to say passports are required in this comic world? That should handle the inoculation issue as well. Whether a movie company would spend expensive film on people filling out passport forms, getting their photos made, and then going to their county health department for shots… Well even asking like Crosby says is kind of announcing your lack of familiarity with modern fim, the medium of film, or the idea of pace and flow in film. The only movie I can think of where passports were kind of important to the film was casablanca. But then I fear you would complain that the import tariff on the bottle of scotch that the guy was drinking was not clearly stamped on the side of the bottle, and that in morocco they wear their fex 7.5 degrees to the right or something. C’mon people.
Finally, on the plane, the bombardier reference guy, check out the globaljets again, and and then look back to the CARTOON.
Erm, I dunno about there; but here, most people carry their passports with them most of the time anyway. For identification purposes and so forth.
Or they could have them sent, or… You know, etc. Not sure it matters that much. >.>;
I left that up to Eisu, but it appears to be the same guy, yes. He’s a hard worker, putting in a long day! I hope the plane doesn’t crash into the ocean.
Yay~ for dramatic pointing!!
I find it very amusing that Stasia said that not too long ago. You can really tell how they went from not even knowing each other to coming to love each other.
“I’m not quite sure if anyone has noticed yet, but I do believe that would be the same jet Stasia’s dad just took to get there, even if they are rich, they would only buy 1 jet… like come on!”
Well Stasia, what with being a superstar and all, probably needs a jet for touring, and her dad might need his own for business.
I started out with only two comics. Now I’m up to nine. It’s really strange with Bobby’s comics, though, because I feel disappointed when I don’t get an update on time with most of my comics but with Bobby’s (especially Marry Me and Last Blood) I’m kind of glad because that just means more comments to read and better work to look forward to.
African nations rarely check for passports, much less often if your A rich, B famous, and C constantly in the public eye. In fact the vast majority of african nations don’t even bother to have passport checks at all, anyone who is flying into the nation is either rich(most criminal elements who fly to Africa fall under this category), a diplomat, a scientist, or their for humanitarian work. The notable exeptions to this are the nations that have remained (relatively) westernized in a post colonial state, South Africa, Egypt, and Morrocco.
Um, is it just me, or should her pregnant sister definitely NOT be hopping on a plane at this point? No flying in the third trimester, and she looks like she’s about to pop as it is.
I was just wondering, should Janny be flying if she is 8 months pregnant? Internet consensus seems to be no: http://www.pregnancy-info.net/wellbeing_flying.html
Of course, this may be similar to suspension of disbelief in the case of the passports …
On the passport thing, there doesn’t need to be a whole scene. IF you wanted to deal with this sort of continuity sort of things, you a) just don’t have anyone check for shots on the other side. And b), like Bobby said, avoid it as much as possible. However it is actually quite simple to somehow have a little shot at some point where he is say pulling his passport out of an envelope and putting it in his pocket or something. Like he said, you’re going to Africa, and they’re in Oklahoma no? So they’re likely to route through Boston, or Atlanta, or at least somewhere like Cleveland etc. for a tank up before hitting the Atlantic. So it would be relatively simple, albeit a little time wasting unless there is another reason (perhaps a scene cut to a different conversation and wanting to show the passage of time between the two conversations?).
And for the record Bobby, these sorts of question are valid, even if people/execs judge it the same way you do. Too many continuity errors and you can lose that feeling of realism, which in some cases can be important to the story. In this case, I think it’s probably too much of a distraction to bother with it, but taken in aggregate some of these marginal decisions might be reversed because taken together they make the whole feel lacking in some way.
“On the passport thing, there doesn’t need to be a whole scene.”
Yeah, you don’t understand these things. There needs to be MULTIPLE SCENES actually or NONE, and NONE is clearly the best choice. Here’s why –
“However it is actually quite simple to somehow have a little shot at some point where he is say pulling his passport out of an envelope and putting it in his pocket or something.”
Absolutely wrong. If that was done, THEN people would actually question it and go, “Wait, what? Why does he have his passport?” Doing what you suggest would actually cause the problem you’re trying to fix — it would do the opposite of what you want. If the passport situation was addressed in any way, we’d have to go into some degree of detail on it for it to make any sense and it would be the most BORING, POINTLESS THING EVER.
“And for the record Bobby, these sorts of question are valid”
No, they’re most definitely not, in any way.
“Too many continuity errors and you can lose that feeling of realism”
Please tell me of one continuity error in “Marry Me.” There are zero, and it’s definitely not a “continuity” error to not waste everyone’s time showing that they all have their passports and explaining why they all have their passports. It’s called good, tight writing to chop that shit out.
“but taken in aggregate some of these marginal decisions might be reversed because taken together they make the whole feel lacking in some way.”
What are you referring to? “Some of these marginal decisions”? Name others, and nothing has been marginal so far — all extremely easy decisions.
Marginal in the sense that they are individual decisions. If you aggregate or take all of those decisions together perhaps you find that it doesn’t give the feel you are looking for.
Continuity errors, not having a passport when you would need one isn’t one of those? I mean if there is a reasonable assumption that in reality it wouldn’t be too hard to actually get said passport, than yes it is just fluffy stuff you want to cut out to make things tight. BUT you still have to make that decision. Therefore it is a valid question. Just because its an easy question to answer in your mind doesn’t make it invalid to ask in the first place.
I agree that perhaps mentioning it might cause the opposite effect, and that is a place where I will have to default to your probably vastly greater level of experience in these matter. I just think that having a package thrown in his lap, opening and maybe making a little, “gonna need this” sort of comment would be all that would be required, and yes it would be a side track, but I don’t think that you can discount this without looking at it as a whole (which we as readers cannot yet). Perhaps passports and shots are important to the story line, we have no clue, maybe they get hassled on the return trip (or heck even on the flight out, I’m sure there is some overseas flights having to go through customs regulation).
“Continuity errors, not having a passport when you would need one isn’t one of those?”
Who said they don’t have their passports??? And no, even that would not be a continuity error. As others have said, they may not even need passports, but either way, how would anyone know for sure if they have them or not if it’s not ever mentioned in the story? It’s COMPLETELY POINTLESS.
“Therefore it is a valid question.”
Nothing you say could ever make me think it’s valid.
“I just think that having a package thrown in his lap, opening and maybe making a little, ‘gonna need this’ sort of comment would be all that would be required”
LOL. That would just be CREEPY and would DEMAND tons of more questions to be answered, like who did that and did they break into Parker’s and Guy’s houses to steal their passports to do so and a million other questions. All it would do is make people think about the passport issue for NO REASON and force them to question it when less than 1% of the audience would have even THOUGHT about it before, and less than 10% of those people would even consider thinking that it might be an “error” of some sort if it wasn’t “explained.” At the most one out of every 1,000 viewers would think it’s a problem, but if that “problem” is actually addressed in the film, that would make probably one out of every TWO viewers who would now think something weird happened with a passport and that there’s a problem (not even counting the more major problem of it being SO DAMN BORING AND POINTLESS AND A WASTE OF THEIR TIME AND MONEY).
“Perhaps passports and shots are important to the story line, we have no clue”
I think I’ve made it abundantly clear that passports and shots do not come up in any way in the story.
To the anonymous asshole who just complained about me and the update schedule (comment deleted), I’ll repeat something that either you missed or are intentionally ignoring:
“You clearly have the capacity to update three times a week, since you promised to if you made it to #1 on Wowio”
First, there was almost no chance of being #1 the most days on WOWIO. Second, did you miss the part where I said multiple times that the reason we could do that is because being #1 on WOWIO = making a ton of money? Making a ton of money = ability to spend more time on the comics which are now making us a ton of money. This was explained many times in detail in the comments for people like you who have no common sense whatsoever and who think the passport situation is the most important thing in the comic.
Just on this passport thing, because it’s so ridiculous…
I didn’t even think about ANY of that before I read the comments… and even now I see no point to it. I mean, I guess you could add a scene of them entering into the plane with a passport peeking out of their pants pocket or something, but WHY? This is a romance story, not a murder story wherein the murderer just managed to sneak by the airport security, which would break the entire plot and belief of the story…
“guess you could add a scene of them entering into the plane with a passport peeking out of their pants pocket”
As I’ve said, that would do much more harm than good. It would be confusing and would bring up questions that 99% of people would have never considered otherwise.
As you said, it’s a romantic comedy, and the people criticizing these things have no clue what they’re talking about.
For the record I really dislike your antagonistic manner bobby. I was merely making a point, a point that you obviously missed the tree for the forest. My point was that with all of these things that are true in reality that you need to decide IF they are worth worrying about. Obviously, you’re not going to worry about it. But that poor guy you tore a new one for no good reason because he brought up the obvious question of passports. Perhaps you are right that 99% won’t care, and it’s a romantic comedy, so I think realism isn’t usually what the genre goes for. But just stop thinking that everyone is out to get you and treat the people that post on here with some common decency.
My word… enough with the passport crap already. It’s been said numerous times that this is supposed to be a romantic comedy. Have any of you ever watched a chick flick? Those sorts of things are never explained or addressed. Perhaps someone will question it, but because it has NO EFFECT on the story it’s easily forgotten as the story progresses. Bobby is completely right to say that it’s “tight” writing to chop that kind of information out. Do you really want three comics on Guy saying “oh wait! I need my passport!” then heading home to get it before he goes to Africa?? Of course not. And in a movie you would not want this either! It would be, as Bobby has already pointed out, deleted scenes left on the cutting room floor because it’s boring and pointless and has no effect on the storyline. Anyway, before I continue to repeat myself-
The comic looks great. The bus driver looks quite put out in the last panel Keep it up, guys!
“But that poor guy you tore a new one for no good reason because he brought up the obvious question of passports.”
Huh? Who are you referring to? I thought they were all you and I didn’t tear anyone a new one — I simply clearly stated the situation. Also, I’ve never even come CLOSE to tearing someone a new one for simply asking a question, as you imply. I just looked back through the comments and I assume you’re talking about the guy who said –
————-
“With your goal of selling this story to a movie studio, if we notice that they’re going to need passports, the execs who decide whether or not to buy your script (in whatever form it is eventually submitted) are going to notice they’re going to need passports. It’s a valid question no matter what the answer to it turns out to be or whether or not that answer appears in the final product.”
————–
Zero questions were asked there. This moron simply totally disagreed with me and told me that it’s a valid thing that needs to be addressed in the comic and that studio executives would insanely require it, all total garbage.
“For the record I really dislike your antagonistic manner bobby. But just stop thinking that everyone is out to get you and treat the people that post on here with some common decency.”
Fuck you, moron. Obviously banned for wasting everyone’s time whining about me because you clearly lose a damn argument and can’t handle it.
Actually, ’someone’ was probably referring to me, at least I’m the one you quoted. My ‘question’, which was implied and not specified, was: “What about passports?”
Had I been being nitpicky, I would have mentioned not only the need for a passport, but the need for a visa (either business or personal), the need for an invitation to Kenya, and the possible need of proof for yellow fever vaccination. All of which could likely be avoided by someone with sufficient clout and/or fame like Stasia.
At no time did I say the studio execs would require that you deal with it, insanely or not. I was merely of the opinion that if we noticed it, they would as well. Were it to be dealt with, the whole issue could be taken care of with two lines of dialog.
Guy, although more likely Parker or Denny: “Won’t we need passports?”
Stasia (with a dismissive wave): “Oh, please, I’m Stasia.”
But yeah, for a movie this is the sort of thing that’s of little purpose, given the circumstances. I can only think of a couple reasons why passports would be important to a romance story like this, and those would be completely negated by the power of Stasianess.
But way too tense environment here… I’m more inclined to just be psyched about Guy’s pointing reference!
britney spears didn’t even think she needed a valid driver’s license…. it never even crossed her mind. LOL such are celebrities
having read multiple screenwriting books, I will agree that talking about the passports wouldn’t make it through the final draft of the screenplay. if it did & was filmed, it’d be edited out. Unless this was a movie about them needing passports & not having them, there’s no point. it’s one of those assumed things.
not to mention that since she’s in a private plane, the need to present a passport wouldn’t even occur until she landed in Africa. And my guess is, she’d be landing on a private strip on the land where her charitable foundation is located. They don’t usually have customs officials there…
Wow. Bobby, if I were you, I would just ignore everyone. This is retarded. Quite simply, your argument makes sense, everyone that disagrees is whining. It isn’t hard to follow the logic of allowing certain subplots remain offscreen!
“I was merely of the opinion that if we noticed it, they would as well.”
If by “we” you mean “anyone besides yourself”, you’re flipping ignorant. I saw no need for any sort of mentioning of passports/visas/shots/whatthefuckevers. Frankly, your assumptions of “critical information” is pissing me off. It’s not needed, it’s been explained multiple times that it’s not needed, just drop it already.
“Guy, although more likely Parker or Denny: ‘Won’t we need passports?’
Stasia (with a dismissive wave): ‘Oh, please, I’m Stasia.’ ”
LOL! You’re seriously making me repeat this for like a FIFTH time now? OK, buddy, here it is: THAT would do the opposite of what you want. That would FORCE people to think about the passport issue and now think, “Huh, that’s not right — yeah, don’t they need passports???” And no, having Stasia say that she’s Stasia doesn’t even come close to properly answering that question that is now in their minds but never would have been in their minds otherwise. I could go on and on about this. Read my previous comments for more details, which you obviously ignored. Banned obviously.
“the need for an invitation to Kenya”
She runs the biggest charity in Kenya. She’s like the queen of Kenya.
If I had a private jet, I’d leave my passport IN IT. I suppose that’s a legitimate excuse for all of you who are getting worked up over the passport issue. Yes, in the real world, it matters, but this is fiction. It could be set in an alternate Earth where passports are unneeded. Or maybe in 2009 they eliminated passports. What’s the next complaint? That’s there’s NO REAL STASIA? (That was sarcasm, by the way.)
I honestly think that the point of comics is to enjoy them. And, if you don’t like what you read (not this specifically, but anything in general), then acknowledge the hard work and effort of the creators and find something else to amuse you.
pot calling kettle?
Wish you best of luck with your works here regardless of how you handle the people in here you dislike, its good stuff. I probably wouldn’t have come back anyway, save to hear that last rebuttal.
Why can people not simply enjoy the comic for what it is rather than look for every dusty detail or slipped stitch and try to bring it (fruitlessly) into the light? Are peoples lives that dull and mediocre that they get some form of enjoyment from that sort of behaviour? -.- It is a shame that people go out of their way to provoke and antagonise Bobby and Eisu (mainly Bobby it seems). Bobby’s projects seem to attract a lot of perfectionist bitchers who, in the past, probably wrote frantic letters to Gerry Conway regarding the colour of Wonder Woman’s socks changing between panels. Instead of being ignored or thrown some kind of ‘a wizard did it’ form of reasoning, you are given a decent and realistic answer and rather than take it and go away, you bitch more about it. I enjoy both ‘Marry Me’ and ‘Last Blood’ wholeheartedly. I also enjoy reading the comments below, the shared opinions of the supporters, Bobby’s love of spoilers and the amusing quips people make. What (as you can probably tell unless you are as blind as a roadkill mole) pisses me off is the aforementioned bitchers/nitpickers. This post has come as a result of that and it should hopefully provoke some meaningful thoughts in other peoples minds regarding the fact that if this behaviour is enough to piss viewers/visitors off enough to post like this, how does it affect Bobby and Eisu? Nevermind when people get directly confrontational with them and literally attack their work. As this post is getting a bit long, I will take my leave with my own personal thought and reiteration: enjoy it for what it is at its face level at the very least.
I eagerly await a response entitled ‘Wonder Woman did not wear socks’.
I sure hope they don’t hit too much turbulence on the way to Africa. A big guy like Denny is gonna be cramped enough in that plane as is so I’d cross my fingers for a smooth flight : P
As someone who has never posted, I feel it’s high time I should have. I’ve been following the comic ever since page 20-something, and I absolutely LOVE it when it’s updated. It especially the love the art, the number one selling feature of a comic for me. Eisu’s style reminds me of an old cartoon I used to watch, but have forgotten the name to.
In regards to the whole passport issue though, if they’re boarding Stasia’s dads plane (are they? The pilot looks the same…), they wouldn’t need them, would they? I mean, if the pilot already knows Stasia (as she has probably met him more than once), and knows of the ‘problem’ with Guy… wouldn’t passports be an issue not worth bringing up (not just for page saving, but for their world circumstances)?
Just a thought.
Nice comic. Makes me laugh out loud sometimes Like at the dramatic pointing by Guy. I
The end of your post might have got cut off, possibly from trying to make the heart symbol (this comments system doesn’t allow it sometimes for some reason and cuts off everything after that).
Also, just to let you know, Stasia owns the plane.
OMG! the number of whiskers on Guys beard doesn’t match from frame to frame 0_0 a travesty. Where are the Hidden Whiskers I ask?! perhaps with the mystiously missing passports! …
any one who took this passport shit seriously deserves a darwin award… serioulsy just go hang yourself now… Or write your own web comic and let bobby know so he can point out every tiny useless inconsistency in it. Assuming he would take the five seconds a day to waste on reading whatever crap your spewing.
I dont think I could handle a story arc about people paying thier electric bill, grocery shopping, sleeping… Seriously yall go read Douglas Adams he has an entire chapter about leaving that crap out.
This is easily the best webcomic i have read in the past half year or so, and i read about two hundred of em in that time, brilliant work, great characters AND great humor, keep them coming. (is there any way to help you guys without using WOWIO, Live in holland so i can’t join)
Great Comic all the characters have lovable quirks…. though I would want to see more of Parker and the Bodyguard their interaction is great. as fro the passports Stasia’s rich and has numerous people working for her.the passports could be waiting for them when they get there as Stasia is known to run off so they probaly have a plan in place to keep up with her.
Question for Bobby. I know you plan to make this into a movie someday and i believe that in previous posts you have hinted at or mentioned that you are currently working on a deal with a company in the industry and i was wondering if you had anyone in mind for the actors? i think i saw a post saying that you had a current pop star/ singer looking at the role and i guess i was hoping you could give us a hint as to who that might be? or maybe your hopes as to who could play that part? Just wondering.
Keep up the good work and ignore the assholes who can’t appreciate good work when they see it.
Was it really required to bore the rest of us with that passport drivel? Bobby should only have to explain it ONCE. Every other time after that was him being very kind and making sure he didn’t come off an ass for telling you to look up.
How many of you here have ever seen… meh, Friends will do. The scene(s) where Ross and Rachel are chasing each other about on planes? I NEVER saw a passport, and that was a bleeding comedy! They could have had fun with that one.
On another note: Bobby, Eisu, you guys are doing some awesome work here! As long as you don’t cast Britany Spears, you’ll see me at theatre opening day… and probably the next few day as well.
I’ve never posted, but I’ve been reading since page 3. (Can’t wait for more)
Booby is right about 99% of people not noticing. I noticed only because I have traveled to Africa and I’ve had to deal with the bureaucracy of Visa’s, Vaccinations, and Passports so that I could live and work there. Anyone who might have pondered traveling abroad had to educate themselves about this so it might be a flag. Most people though, don’t even know the preparation for travel needed. I work at in the University System trying to help students study abroad, and when I ask if they have a passport, they look at me with a question mark on their face. Visa brings an even funnier face, especially when they find out it may take more than a month to process for some countries.
Ever since I was little, I don’t think a movie or television show has ever addressed a passport issue, let alone applying for a Visa. It’s pretty much a poetic license most writers use to help cut out details that would take forever to explain unless it will be used later on in the plot. Suspension of disbelief was an important tool used when reading the Little Prince, and that is over a boy who flies from planet to planet roping birds in a net. Believe me, someone can hold their disbelief long enough for a 2 second scene jump from America to Kenya.
Possible ideas of what happens between: I could see maybe, if she did charity work, perhaps trying to have Guy and Parker impersonate passports somebody else may leave on the plane for future charity work. But then again you have to get into the explanation of why would So-and-So leave their passports. I could see the mentioning of Stasia as queen of Kenya working to get them into the country, but really the fact of the matter it should be left out. If you have someone point to the problem, the more people will actually research the problem to see how wrong it is. Thereby having people focus on that one flaw and not being able to sit through the rest of the movie. Besides, I like being able to imagine the ways they snuck into Africa. I don’t need the writer to tell me it.
All in all, it was a valid question about the passports, but Bobby’s answer was valid enough to halt any more senseless bickering. The writer felt that it was an unnecessary fact to focus on because it would essentially hurt the storyline. Period. Trying to say what could have happened isn’t going to work, since I bet if he would have explained it, 99% of the readers would be complaining a) the scene is too long or b)that is impossible with the passports since it was pointed out in the story line.
Better to just mask it and leave it up to your imagination. For those of you wiling to waste your energy on this question…here’s a new question to waste your time on:
Where does Superman hide his cape when he is Clark Kent?
There, now debate that instead.
By the way, excellent comic. The art is amazing and the writing is great. It is always helpful to work as a team.
For some reason when i read the Bussdrivers line I think he should almost have a whisteld S. Like the Janitor in the archie comics lol. P.s love the comic keepz it up
I thought ‘passport’ too, but I’d guess most Americans won’t – if you’ve never left your own country you might not even know they exist. But as the update rate is so low, the LAST thing I want is an episode explaining things like that. Lets get to Africa already!
P.S. Love the comic so far. Please, Bobby, more writing the story and less worrying about people’s comments. (Yes including this one
“Please, Bobby, more writing the story and less worrying about people’s comments.”
I’ve never once worried about a comment and it’s quite stupid to think those two things could be related in any way. Eisu’s had the Page 49 script for over a week, but he’s had computer troubles.
I think the only reason everyone notices the need for passports right now is the story stops with this scene. If we were reading the story the whole way through we’d be too busy keeping up with the story line to worry about passports.
I read somewhere that pregnant people over three months can’t ride in an airplane because thay give birth and if you give birth evena week early the lungs are underdevloped…Just curious if she’s even gonna be allowed on the plane…
I saw someone make a comment wondering if actors had been considered for the movie production of this, and I’d be interested in learning more about this, too Not only that, but I’d love to know when/if auditions were being held! XD
It’s far too large of a budget for me to even consider making myself until I’m a very rich man (most likely several years away, if ever), so the goal is to simply sell the rights (or screenplay, after I write it) to a studio or production company and get it made that way. It’s always fun to speculate on possible actors and I’ve done a lot of that, sure — doesn’t mean anything, though. No clue who will end up being in it, if the movie’s made.
Oh *clearly* how they deal with the whole damn passport situation is either a) dual citizenship (she’s certainly done enough charity work to earn it, right?), or b) faking their planes transponder so as to make it look like the plane arrived from that country. Clearly.
Also, Bobby, apologies if anybody has ever posted this, but I find it extremely relivant to this conversation: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/town_hall_meeting_gives
It’s a romantic comedy. Its supposed to be at least somewhat silly and ignorant of the details of reality, especially since it is dealing with superstar main characters. Things like this should never and will never be an issue.
P.S. I love this and Last Blood, keep up the good writing! (Shmaieic kindof blows, in my completely irrelivant opinion)
“African nations rarely check for passports, much less often if your A rich, B famous, and C constantly in the public eye. In fact the vast majority of african nations don’t even bother to have passport checks at all, anyone who is flying into the nation is either rich(most criminal elements who fly to Africa fall under this category), a diplomat, a scientist, or their for humanitarian work. The notable exeptions to this are the nations that have remained (relatively) westernized in a post colonial state, South Africa, Egypt, and Morrocco.”
Don’t know where you’ve been but but I’ve been to most of Southern Africa and if you’re white, yah they check your passport and unpack your entire car. Not many people crossing see, they’re bored.
And if Danny even -thinks- about say “Mother country” I’m going to hurt him… seriously.
Lol.
I just agree with the sentiments Bobby posted somewhere over in the comments over there, that the word kindof is not that hot. Thats all.
Matthew, Bobby is clearly criticizing me for not bothering to look up how to spell it. And rightly so. If I’m going to poke at it, I should at least give up enough effort to spell it correctly. So, boo at me.
Yay for dead end comment trails.
P.S.
I look forward to the next installments in both series’s. I have no idea why I bother to occasionally read the comments sections though, they are kindof disturbing.
Actually, I wonder what Simon Pegg would look like portraying Guy…
At any rate, the bus driver should totally get to go to Africa, just with Stasia’s dad! Can you imagine the potential for one-liners if he shows up later driving him around? Perhaps something along the lines of “Africa’s over-rated”
*reads a couple passport arguing comments and scrolls down*
Wow, lol… talk about picky! I think I’d be annoyed if every movie always made a point about showing that everybody has all their ID’s and everything is perfectly legal… imagine if every bar scene in every movie you’d ever watched had bothered to show the bartender checking the ID of the customer! Not worth my time, dunno about anyone else…
Eisu, is your computer working again yet? I get so sad whenever I come to this site and it’s the same comic. Still, I know you can’t rush art. I’ll just have to be patient and occupy my mind by doing something else (like studying for the exam I have tomorrow).
Clearly the response to the passports is that they don’t have one, and rather than this being a romantic comedy we were tricked. Parker will turn out to be a Kenyan drug lord, and will take Stasia hostage, it will be an international event, the UN and NATO will be involved…Denny will lead a rescue mission…also in Stasia’s pants….
That or they all secretly have their passports embedded into their skin.
:p Sorry… there was just too much debate not to mock it. I am a bad bad person.
Hey hey! The archives are still building somewhat slowly, but the quality is so good throughout. I’ll be sure to download both issues through wowio. This comic is classy.
Passports? Passports?! WE DON’T NEED NO STINKING PASSPORTS! All we need is a little bit of reader ignorance for what may or may not be hole(s) in the storytelling device. And a kumquat. Definitely need a kumquat. Don’t ask, just do.
Christ I’m sick of hearing about passports. I personaly carry my passporto nme quite a bit. Its got emergency contact numbers int he back, its great for being used for ID. While I can use my drivers liscence as ID, the emergency contact numbers are the good thing about it. Who’s to say that they don’t have their passports with them as ID ? Infact. Who cares. Really. I hadn’t even noticed til lsomeome pointed itou, and there’s multitude of reasons for them having their passports. I’d rather see the comic ontinue at a decent pace, without a scene of them trying to find passports realising they didnt. Going back to their houses. Getting the passports. Comming back, getting on the plane.
Okay, now all these passport comments are just getting out of hand. Bobby’s right, if passports are so much as /mentioned/ then the reader or movie-watcher’s just going to be like, “Yeah, what about passports?” and then at the end, “But what about passports?”
Part of storytelling is knowing what shouldn’t be included, so quit telling people how to do what they surely do better than you can. All these arguements are getting really old really fast.
I think what is needed is a special mini-comic insert to go with the print version of the comic. In the mini-comic, there is an elaborate and confusing series of events developing a plausible and perhaps even compelling reason why everyone in the world has started carrying their passport on their person at all times. Could be linked to 9/11, might just be a European Union imperative, you know, something really serious.
Characterization is important, too, so there should be a tense and tearful scene between Guy and Parker just before the concert, where he gives a line like, “You know, this crazy world might not last the night, and maybe this concert will be the last one we ever see … but you just hold tight to your passport and your dreams, kiddo, and maybe–just maybe–things will be alright.”
Parker: “You really mean it, Guy?”
Guy: “Sure, kid. Sure.”
Aaaaaand … scene. Whew! I’ll be in my trailer–I have something in my eye.
As a writer, I have to say that Mr. Crosby is doing a fantastic job with the dialogue–it’s immersive without being heavy, and funny without being forced, and the characters seem to dynamically write themselves.
Not to avoid giving props to the incredibly talented artist. I must say, I am truly impressed by this, and can’t wait to see more. Well-done you two!
But I mean it about the story writing. Though it wouldn’t work nearly so well without Eisu’s artwork. I love how he gets the facial expressions, so they fit and add to the storyline. Just wish we didn’t have to wait so long for the next one though. You must find that frustrating too.
Eh, his work is well worth the wait, and I’m very lazy and a slow writer in general, so I get to go on a break from writing “Marry Me” while waiting for the new page, which is especially nice during this time when I’m writing five “Last Blood” pages per week (and still doing “+EV,” of course, and other things), although I should be writing a ton more of everything and I certainly wish a new MM was up already. Should be up within 24 hours, but I’m not sure.
No inspiration that I can remember. It was originally going to be more of a drama and the musician was going to be a guy instead of a girl and he was a young widower. Have tons of stupid notes about that from 2003. Anyway, romantic comedy with a female singer was definitely the way to go.
Actually downloaded it and read it before I found the website.
I love your characters – they seem real which is critical for the romantic comedy genre – far more important than the dread pp (which, I an American, noticed but didn’t care about it).
Keep up the good work – “The world needs more silly love songs”. I just hope you focus on them and not the Father. I’m not much interested in him.
“I just hope you focus on them and not the Father. I’m not much interested in him.”
Neither am I and he plays a very small role in the story. I doubt he’ll appear on more than five pages total. He’s the star of Page 49, though, which hopefully will be up very soon.
Cool tunes! I can handle a few pages for an antagonist. I will wait patiently (well maybe patiently…) for the story to continue. I would ask for hints, but I don’t want to spoil it.
I love the art work as well – it suits the characters very well. You have a great team going here.
I can’t believe people are actually bitching about omitting passports from the fucking comic.
I’d omit passports in reality if I could, yet you people want to put that tedium into a comic?
Fucking shit.
Also I can’t help but feel the whole pointing dramatically in the wrong direction this is the corniest thing ever. Please don’t submit that kind of screenplay or whatever to a studio. In fact you should feel bad for even including that in the comic. That’s bad. Its not good its bad. I am telling you its bad. Don’t think its good writing, its terrible. No, you are wrong, its not funny, comical, witty in any possible sense. Its not my opinion, its fact. Don’t ever make such a horrible writing fiasco ever again.
While I can agree with people bugging about the passport thing I can not agree about the dramatic pointing. It’s cute. It’s funny. Take it from a woman who likes cute and funny things. It is not your right to tell Crosby and Eisu what should and shouldn’t go. Enjoy the comic like the rest of us. And keep you unwanted and unenlightened comments to yourself. If you’ve got a negative opinion keep it to yourself.
To Bobby and Eisu:
I just started reading your webcomic. I really like it. Guy is extremely cute. I would watch this movie. Keep up the good work!
The pointing dramatically thing is the most popular stuff in the whole comic and the comic itself is quite popular, so obviously tons of people like it. Stasia’s first line about it is the signature for some people on various forums and I’ve seen it quoted many many times. People love it for some reason, which is why I brought it back a second time.
October 12th, 2007 at 4:05 pm
Awesome, a new page things are really gonna start geting good
October 12th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
Been reading this, +EV, and Last Blood. All of them are great!
And actually, Africa is *that* way… —>
October 12th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
dramatic pointing yay!
X3
October 12th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
I love how Guy is totally getting into it! And I love how every one else tags along, except the poor driver.
I like how the one titlted panel gives the art a little twist and makes it fun for the reader to be a little distracted from the other straight panels. Excellent job Eisu!
October 12th, 2007 at 5:27 pm
You can tell they are totally crushing on each other right now…
October 12th, 2007 at 5:28 pm
I’m loving this. Guy is having so much fun.
Excellent job Eisu and Bobby.
October 12th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
I wish I could go to Africa!
October 12th, 2007 at 5:48 pm
I wanna go to Africa!
Wonderful page. I love the bus driver’s expression!
October 12th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
Um, Passports?
October 12th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
“Um, Passports?”
October 12th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
xD The last three panels are awesome.
Good page, guys. :3 And the artwork is great as always.
October 12th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
“Umm passports?”
She’s Stasia…I mean come on, who is gonna stop one of the biggest recording stars of her time to ask for her passport…Its not like she is wearing a blood alcohol bracelet, or trying to get her kids back…duh.
October 12th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Also, Stasia and Janny would of course have their passports. They’re constantly flying out of the country. They have their passports at all times. They just finished a world tour.
October 12th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
Perfect! Just… PERFECT =D!!!
October 12th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Nice place for a honeymoon, whoo, maybe Guy the Nerd shall get a chance to show off his nerdliness and mention the origin of the word.
October 12th, 2007 at 7:37 pm
i bet that poor driver gets reamed by dad when he gets there
October 12th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
Alex: That’s on the next page!
October 12th, 2007 at 7:48 pm
OMG!!! So cute!!!!! Keep the good work! Kisses from Argentina!
October 12th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
Oh very very good. Honesty. I love this. It’s just… fun.
Beautiful rehash of the “Pointing dramatically” joke. I’m gonna start doing that IRL.
October 12th, 2007 at 8:16 pm
I LOVE THE DRAMATIC POINTING!
hahaha, it made me laugh to myself.
Great job!
October 12th, 2007 at 8:24 pm
Harharharharhar. New page! Great!!
October 12th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
“What the the hell is with you all and africa?!”
Thats what i wan’t to say.
Well, beeing in africa, always triple Check the seal of Waterbottels because its making good money to sell own normal, recleared water as fresh one.

I don’t want to go to Africa.
October 12th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Me either. I originally started today’s blog post with “I want to go to Africa,” but then I chose to not be a liar and I changed it to something about the bus driver. I have no interest in going to any other country. Never left America.
October 12th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
I love Guy so much in this page. I also love the random driver guy. I bet he does want to get away before Stasia’s dad gets there and finds out that he has to get on another plane to chase his daughter…
October 13th, 2007 at 12:44 am
Uh oh. Stasia has committed a cardinal sin for those wishing to escape pursuit. She’s left a trail. Bus driver man is so going to get it. Unless he’s a top notch professional trained never to give up secrets under interrogation. :p
October 13th, 2007 at 12:45 am
On a side note though. Is it me or does the plane’s fuselage look a little squished?
October 13th, 2007 at 12:51 am
It’s a special futuristic plane from 2009 — that’s how they build them in the future.
October 13th, 2007 at 1:08 am
7th panel ftw!! And Guy’s expression in panel 6. Generally, pure gold.
October 13th, 2007 at 5:34 am
Nice to see Guy genuinly excited.
5th panel Parker is all jumpy with happiness.
October 13th, 2007 at 5:57 am
I wouldn’t put it past Parker, as a semi-stalkery superfan, to carry her passport with her all the time and maybe make sure Guy’s was with them, just in case. I actually find it weirder that three women are getting on a plane and none of them is carrying a purse.
October 13th, 2007 at 6:57 am
Poor bus driver. They could have invited him along too.
He should’ve said something when he had the chance.
October 13th, 2007 at 7:40 am
With your goal of selling this story to a movie studio, if we notice that they’re going to need passports, the execs who decide whether or not to buy your script (in whatever form it is eventually submitted) are going to notice they’re going to need passports. It’s a valid question no matter what the answer to it turns out to be or whether or not that answer appears in the final product.
As for the plane? I suggest Eisu check out http://www.bombardier.com to get some ideas for external structure and interior layout.
I feel sorry for Denny though. He’s a big guy and is going to feel mighty cramped in there.
October 13th, 2007 at 8:10 am
Don’t you need to get a whole bunch of inoculations a week or two before you go to any African country?
October 13th, 2007 at 9:04 am
Why does it matter if they need to get their shots or have their passports? This is a COMIC guys. Whenever I make comments about how impossible things are about TV or a movie, my parents have to tell me, “it’s just TV/a movie.” Now I’m carrying on the message to ya’ll. Just a comic. Chill out with the technicalities.
October 13th, 2007 at 9:18 am
“As for the plane? I suggest Eisu check out http://www.bombardier.com to get some ideas for external structure and interior layout.”
Yeah, I know, i have a whole bunch of references for plane pictures in my PC but at the point of drawing this, it was the night before Eidulfitri, a celebration I celebrate being an Islam, I could care less about the accuracy, so I just took a glimpse at my reference and winged the rest.
October 13th, 2007 at 10:01 am
Wow I totally fell in love with this comic and just read everything this moring. I think the passport thing is something the lawyers would deal with. I love the idea of going to africa and can’t wait to see how Ana and Guy’s relationship play out. If they aren’t ‘really’ married I hope that they will be at some point they make such a cute couple. As long as guy tries to remain guy and not let the lime light change him, it could just work. I also want to see more of her father as a character not just as the ‘big bad’.
October 13th, 2007 at 10:05 am
you’ve outdone yourselves with the bus driver!your best yet.
October 13th, 2007 at 10:19 am
I hope they all have passports with them
October 13th, 2007 at 10:55 am
Is there a way Canadians can see these extras we’re getting teased about?
October 13th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
Yay! New page!
I agree with whomever it was that said they were considering doing dramatic pointing iRL. TOO funny!
October 13th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
October 13th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
Loved the dramatic pointing. Poor bus driver. Me feels sorry for him *hugs*. I loved these pages, but right now I have a headache. Update soon…
October 13th, 2007 at 6:39 pm
I’m not quite sure if anyone has noticed yet, but I do believe that would be the same jet Stasia’s dad just took to get there, even if they are rich, they would only buy 1 jet… like come on!
And what happens when Daddy comes to find that they have run off in the only jet? does he take a commercial jet? does he go and splurge on a new jet just to chase Stasia? Does bus driver go with him?!?
I really like where this comic is headed…
October 13th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
poor bus driver
October 13th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
*ROFLMAO @ GUY*
Too cute!! They’re TOTALLY headed down the road to marital bliss (even though it’s gonna be a rocky one at first).
And then there’s our buddy Denny: “I’ve wanna go to Africa.”
Also, the inevitable….
Bus Driver: *miserably, knowing her dad’s gonna hang him by his You-Know-Whats for letting them go* I wish I could go to Africa…
Exceptional work from you guys!! Keep it up!!
October 13th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
I love this comic and I just wanted to say that Guy is so adorable!!!
October 14th, 2007 at 12:29 am
They cou7ld have, but he probably has a wife and kids at home. His cell phone would ring that night, his wife would yell “Dinner’s getting cold! Where are you?”
“Africa.”
October 14th, 2007 at 3:48 am
KayRis is spot on. IT IS NOT REAL IT IS A COMIC
October 14th, 2007 at 8:28 am
*steals a jet and takes busdriver to africa* there all better ^^
October 14th, 2007 at 9:47 am
I do like how this page turned out almost makes me want to go to africa but then id lose ten lbs of just sweat.
October 14th, 2007 at 9:55 am
Yay Guy is trying bless him!
And WOOP with dramatic pointing!
October 14th, 2007 at 10:12 am
Erm, I dunno about there; but here, most people carry their passports with them most of the time anyway. For identification purposes and so forth.
Or they could have them sent, or… You know, etc. Not sure it matters that much. >.>;
My two pence worth. *flee*
October 14th, 2007 at 11:30 am
Is it the same pilot than the scene when the father is on his way from Japan???
October 14th, 2007 at 11:35 am
I left that up to Eisu, but it appears to be the same guy, yes. He’s a hard worker, putting in a long day! I hope the plane doesn’t crash into the ocean.
October 14th, 2007 at 11:45 am
Well, that could turn out funny, if the plane crashes near a deserted island…hehe..
October 14th, 2007 at 11:48 am
Yay~ for dramatic pointing!!
I find it very amusing that Stasia said that not too long ago. You can really tell how they went from not even knowing each other to coming to love each other.
October 14th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
Why don’t they invite the bus driver along?
I think Stasia and Guy are starting to fall in love. Plus, Guy’s students definitely love him.
October 14th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
Now that’s a ‘power point’……. presentation…
*walks away slowly*
October 14th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
“I’m not quite sure if anyone has noticed yet, but I do believe that would be the same jet Stasia’s dad just took to get there, even if they are rich, they would only buy 1 jet… like come on!”
Well Stasia, what with being a superstar and all, probably needs a jet for touring, and her dad might need his own for business.
October 14th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
Awww. poor driver. I know the feeling. This series is whats hot on the streets. I had to say that…sorry. Great series though.
October 14th, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Discovered this one after reading all of Last Blood and checking daily for updates… now I have TWO of these comics to check daily!
Great work, I love the art and the writing!
October 14th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
I started out with only two comics. Now I’m up to nine. It’s really strange with Bobby’s comics, though, because I feel disappointed when I don’t get an update on time with most of my comics but with Bobby’s (especially Marry Me and Last Blood) I’m kind of glad because that just means more comments to read and better work to look forward to.
October 14th, 2007 at 11:01 pm
Don’t get me wrong, Bobby, I love it when you update, I’m just not dissapointed when you don’t. The whole MWF thing cracks me up, too.
October 14th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
“Don’t get me wrong, Bobby”
No worries. I like you.
October 15th, 2007 at 6:29 am
African nations rarely check for passports, much less often if your A rich, B famous, and C constantly in the public eye. In fact the vast majority of african nations don’t even bother to have passport checks at all, anyone who is flying into the nation is either rich(most criminal elements who fly to Africa fall under this category), a diplomat, a scientist, or their for humanitarian work. The notable exeptions to this are the nations that have remained (relatively) westernized in a post colonial state, South Africa, Egypt, and Morrocco.
October 15th, 2007 at 7:03 am
Um, is it just me, or should her pregnant sister definitely NOT be hopping on a plane at this point? No flying in the third trimester, and she looks like she’s about to pop as it is.
October 15th, 2007 at 7:53 am
I was just wondering, should Janny be flying if she is 8 months pregnant? Internet consensus seems to be no: http://www.pregnancy-info.net/wellbeing_flying.html
Of course, this may be similar to suspension of disbelief in the case of the passports …
October 15th, 2007 at 9:31 am
I want to go to Africa…
Dramatic pointing is fun and makes life better. It is also good for you soul!
October 15th, 2007 at 12:29 pm
I wanted to go to Africa…
now I want to go to Thailand.
Actually, I want to fly planes. Then I could go anywhere!
October 15th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
“I was just wondering, should Janny be flying if she is 8 months pregnant? Internet consensus seems to be no”
This will be addressed in the comic. And I’ve researched it myself and found tons of women who fly extremely late into their pregnancy.
October 15th, 2007 at 3:30 pm
October 15th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
October 15th, 2007 at 4:59 pm

Love the work you guys do, Bobby and Eisu! Thanks for giving us the chance to read it.
October 15th, 2007 at 5:42 pm
October 15th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
*Sigh* The arguing in these comments really sucks, to be honest.
October 15th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
October 15th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
They will need:
1. passports
2. vacinations
3. small arms (Africa, you know)
October 15th, 2007 at 8:45 pm
Just on this passport thing, because it’s so ridiculous…
I didn’t even think about ANY of that before I read the comments… and even now I see no point to it. I mean, I guess you could add a scene of them entering into the plane with a passport peeking out of their pants pocket or something, but WHY? This is a romance story, not a murder story wherein the murderer just managed to sneak by the airport security, which would break the entire plot and belief of the story…
But to each their own
October 15th, 2007 at 8:50 pm
“guess you could add a scene of them entering into the plane with a passport peeking out of their pants pocket”
As I’ve said, that would do much more harm than good. It would be confusing and would bring up questions that 99% of people would have never considered otherwise.
As you said, it’s a romantic comedy, and the people criticizing these things have no clue what they’re talking about.
October 15th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
October 15th, 2007 at 10:45 pm
The bus driver looks quite put out in the last panel
Keep it up, guys!
October 15th, 2007 at 10:58 pm
October 16th, 2007 at 12:28 am
Amazing as always. The whole passport argument going on was a total shocker…*remembers why she normally reads all the comments posted on here*
I thought it was a great update, especially since i have been pointing dramatically lately for no real apparent reason but to go to lunch.
Greatest part ever–the bus driver looks like my dad without his glasses.
October 16th, 2007 at 5:01 am
October 16th, 2007 at 5:56 am
i hope guy has spiderman’s powers. but if he doesn’t, i’ll still read this wonderful romantic comedy. maybe ana has a dream about being gwen stacy.
October 16th, 2007 at 9:10 am
I am such horrible person.
“I want to go to Africa.”
…
…
…
Screw you for making me feel racist.
October 16th, 2007 at 9:23 am
Yes… Stasia totally could do that too!
“Onward, onward, onward to AFRICA!!!!”
October 16th, 2007 at 9:30 am
c’mon…
passports?
britney spears didn’t even think she needed a valid driver’s license…. it never even crossed her mind.
They don’t usually have customs officials there…
October 16th, 2007 at 10:40 am
To close the passport question once and for all, I’m telling you this:
Readers don’t think about that.
If they thought about that, they wouldn’t really care.
End of story.
October 16th, 2007 at 10:55 am
Wow. Bobby, if I were you, I would just ignore everyone. This is retarded. Quite simply, your argument makes sense, everyone that disagrees is whining. It isn’t hard to follow the logic of allowing certain subplots remain offscreen!
October 16th, 2007 at 11:49 am
“I was merely of the opinion that if we noticed it, they would as well.”
If by “we” you mean “anyone besides yourself”, you’re flipping ignorant. I saw no need for any sort of mentioning of passports/visas/shots/whatthefuckevers. Frankly, your assumptions of “critical information” is pissing me off. It’s not needed, it’s been explained multiple times that it’s not needed, just drop it already.
October 16th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
October 16th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
I’m pretty sure people that do this sort of comments are not even amateur scripters or general writers.
October 16th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
*dramatic point* AFRICA!
This page is L-O-V-E.
October 16th, 2007 at 3:02 pm
October 16th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
does anyone else hear the bus driver as sounding like Don Novello (aka Father Guido Sarducci)?
October 16th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Sweet! A new comic to add to the list of comics I regularly view!
October 16th, 2007 at 11:32 pm
pot calling kettle?
Wish you best of luck with your works here regardless of how you handle the people in here you dislike, its good stuff. I probably wouldn’t have come back anyway, save to hear that last rebuttal.
October 17th, 2007 at 2:33 am
Christ.
October 17th, 2007 at 7:58 am
Wonder Woman did NOT wear socks.
I’m kidding.
Besides, I don’t know if she wore socks or not, and who cares!
October 17th, 2007 at 11:28 am
I sure hope they don’t hit too much turbulence on the way to Africa. A big guy like Denny is gonna be cramped enough in that plane as is so I’d cross my fingers for a smooth flight : P
October 17th, 2007 at 1:28 pm
Have you *seen* some of those pimped out jumbo jets some people have? I’m sure it’ll accommodate Denny just fine
.
October 17th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Genya: Good comment, thanks.
October 17th, 2007 at 4:42 pm
Not that this is at all important, but don’t they need passports? You know – in this paranoid world of ours….
October 17th, 2007 at 4:45 pm
LOL.
October 17th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
HAHAHAHAAH…Oh man.
That’s just too funny for words. xD
Look back through the previous comments for this page, Jenn.
October 17th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
Nice comic. Makes me laugh out loud sometimes
Like at the dramatic pointing by Guy. I
October 17th, 2007 at 10:46 pm
The end of your post might have got cut off, possibly from trying to make the heart symbol (this comments system doesn’t allow it sometimes for some reason and cuts off everything after that).
Also, just to let you know, Stasia owns the plane.
October 17th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
OMG! the number of whiskers on Guys beard doesn’t match from frame to frame 0_0 a travesty.
October 18th, 2007 at 2:03 am
Love the comic, can’t wait for more.
October 18th, 2007 at 7:52 am
Great comic
looking forward to c more of it…
Sadly i’ve been unable to download the pdf files :s
And i cannot create an account cos i am not from the states (Argentina) :p
is there any other way to get those?
Keep publishing!!
October 18th, 2007 at 10:34 am
This is easily the best webcomic i have read in the past half year or so, and i read about two hundred of em in that time, brilliant work, great characters AND great humor, keep them coming. (is there any way to help you guys without using WOWIO, Live in holland so i can’t join)
October 18th, 2007 at 11:38 am
I AM THE DEMON GOD OF CONQUEST!
Errrr….. right. Awesome page, some lame comments xD
I have to confess…. I’S ATE THE PASSPORTS!!!!111one
October 19th, 2007 at 7:53 am
Great Comic all the characters have lovable quirks…. though I would want to see more of Parker and the Bodyguard their interaction is great. as fro the passports Stasia’s rich and has numerous people working for her.the passports could be waiting for them when they get there as Stasia is known to run off so they probaly have a plan in place to keep up with her.
October 19th, 2007 at 8:01 am
First time commentor, been a reader since page 1.
October 19th, 2007 at 8:25 am
Simply love this comic. I’m going to try and buy the book in a store.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
Wow… first time comment, long time reader.
October 20th, 2007 at 6:31 am
October 20th, 2007 at 6:32 am
By the way sorry for the misspelling of Bobby. No one likes to be called Booby.
*Blushes*
October 20th, 2007 at 11:40 am
For some reason when i read the Bussdrivers line I think he should almost have a whisteld S. Like the Janitor in the archie comics lol. P.s love the comic keepz it up
October 20th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
I thought ‘passport’ too, but I’d guess most Americans won’t – if you’ve never left your own country you might not even know they exist. But as the update rate is so low, the LAST thing I want is an episode explaining things like that. Lets get to Africa already!
P.S. Love the comic so far. Please, Bobby, more writing the story and less worrying about people’s comments. (Yes including this one
October 20th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
“Please, Bobby, more writing the story and less worrying about people’s comments.”
I’ve never once worried about a comment and it’s quite stupid to think those two things could be related in any way. Eisu’s had the Page 49 script for over a week, but he’s had computer troubles.
October 20th, 2007 at 10:25 pm
Maybe it’s just me, but I like Denny’s face in Panel 1
October 21st, 2007 at 8:35 am
I think the only reason everyone notices the need for passports right now is the story stops with this scene. If we were reading the story the whole way through we’d be too busy keeping up with the story line to worry about passports.
October 21st, 2007 at 12:09 pm
I read somewhere that pregnant people over three months can’t ride in an airplane because thay give birth and if you give birth evena week early the lungs are underdevloped…Just curious if she’s even gonna be allowed on the plane…
October 21st, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Allie: You read an incorrect thing. I addressed it earlier.
October 21st, 2007 at 6:52 pm
I saw someone make a comment wondering if actors had been considered for the movie production of this, and I’d be interested in learning more about this, too
Not only that, but I’d love to know when/if auditions were being held! XD
October 21st, 2007 at 7:02 pm
It’s far too large of a budget for me to even consider making myself until I’m a very rich man (most likely several years away, if ever), so the goal is to simply sell the rights (or screenplay, after I write it) to a studio or production company and get it made that way. It’s always fun to speculate on possible actors and I’ve done a lot of that, sure — doesn’t mean anything, though. No clue who will end up being in it, if the movie’s made.
October 21st, 2007 at 11:31 pm
Oh *clearly* how they deal with the whole damn passport situation is either a) dual citizenship (she’s certainly done enough charity work to earn it, right?), or b) faking their planes transponder so as to make it look like the plane arrived from that country. Clearly.
Also, Bobby, apologies if anybody has ever posted this, but I find it extremely relivant to this conversation:
http://www.theonion.com/content/news/town_hall_meeting_gives
It’s a romantic comedy. Its supposed to be at least somewhat silly and ignorant of the details of reality, especially since it is dealing with superstar main characters. Things like this should never and will never be an issue.
P.S. I love this and Last Blood, keep up the good writing! (Shmaieic kindof blows, in my completely irrelivant opinion)
October 21st, 2007 at 11:38 pm
“Shmaieic kindof blows, in my completely irrelivant opinion”
Not sure what you mean or what a shmaieic is.

This is the only comic I read whose comments are as entertaining as the story itself. The pointless criticisms, the rabid author… you guys are great.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:24 am
Well… living in Africa, this should be interesting (^^,)
Brilliant comic, thanks! Loving it as always.
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:44 am
October 22nd, 2007 at 10:52 am
they meant to say schaemiac, or something like that.
it is the first zombie in last blood.
this novel is amazing! Guy is one if the best characters i have ever seen in any story, print or graphic. Keep it up!
October 22nd, 2007 at 1:19 pm
“they meant to say schaemiac, or something like that.
it is the first zombie in last blood.”
Yes, I obviously know that, since I invented the word.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:22 am
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:02 am
Actually, I wonder what Simon Pegg would look like portraying Guy…
At any rate, the bus driver should totally get to go to Africa, just with Stasia’s dad! Can you imagine the potential for one-liners if he shows up later driving him around? Perhaps something along the lines of “Africa’s over-rated”
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:47 am
*reads a couple passport arguing comments and scrolls down*
Wow, lol… talk about picky! I think I’d be annoyed if every movie always made a point about showing that everybody has all their ID’s and everything is perfectly legal… imagine if every bar scene in every movie you’d ever watched had bothered to show the bartender checking the ID of the customer! Not worth my time, dunno about anyone else…
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Eisu, is your computer working again yet? I get so sad whenever I come to this site and it’s the same comic. Still, I know you can’t rush art. I’ll just have to be patient and occupy my mind by doing something else (like studying for the exam I have tomorrow).
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:21 pm
Haven’t heard from him in eight days, but no worries. Expecting him to get it sorted out shortly (few days hopefully). Writing Page 50 right now.
October 24th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
Totally love this! Very nice…Now I know why all those Pink Ponies comics are taking so long!
October 25th, 2007 at 1:40 am
Love the stuff as usual. Can’t wait for Eisu to get back up an running… I’ve been missing his ‘No Pink Ponies’ comic
Yes yes… I also miss ‘Marry Me’
Seeya in the funny pages
October 25th, 2007 at 8:34 am
PASSPORTS! Mwahahahahahaha–hrrk!
*sudden death*
October 25th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
Clearly the response to the passports is that they don’t have one, and rather than this being a romantic comedy we were tricked. Parker will turn out to be a Kenyan drug lord, and will take Stasia hostage, it will be an international event, the UN and NATO will be involved…Denny will lead a rescue mission…also in Stasia’s pants….
That or they all secretly have their passports embedded into their skin.
:p Sorry… there was just too much debate not to mock it. I am a bad bad person.
October 25th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
Hey hey! The archives are still building somewhat slowly, but the quality is so good throughout. I’ll be sure to download both issues through wowio. This comic is classy.
October 26th, 2007 at 12:47 am
Passports? Passports?! WE DON’T NEED NO STINKING PASSPORTS! All we need is a little bit of reader ignorance for what may or may not be hole(s) in the storytelling device. And a kumquat. Definitely need a kumquat. Don’t ask, just do.
October 26th, 2007 at 1:04 am
How the fuck could the passport issue possibly be a hole in the storytelling device?
October 26th, 2007 at 2:23 am
October 26th, 2007 at 2:47 am
Seriously… they could just call ahead to the American Embassy… it really wouldn’t be that big of a deal. ESPECIALLY not for a high profile celeb.
October 26th, 2007 at 4:06 am
Okay, now all these passport comments are just getting out of hand. Bobby’s right, if passports are so much as /mentioned/ then the reader or movie-watcher’s just going to be like, “Yeah, what about passports?” and then at the end, “But what about passports?”
Part of storytelling is knowing what shouldn’t be included, so quit telling people how to do what they surely do better than you can. All these arguements are getting really old really fast.
October 26th, 2007 at 5:23 am
October 26th, 2007 at 7:36 am
Awww maybe the bus driver could stow away?
October 26th, 2007 at 8:50 am
In the same vein as passports, and in the spirit of mocking those who take comics to be real life,
WHERE DID GUY PARK HIS CAR!? DID HE TAKE THE BUS!? OMG the storytelling has imploded! Help! Gaaaaahhhhhh!
Sorry. I’m just so tired of minute details being so important. We’re talking four frames a page here people!
Can you just assume that those things are handled and MOVE THE HECK ON!
October 26th, 2007 at 8:50 am
ok so maybe its more than four, but you get my meaning. I realized after I posted that, people would probably pick that comment apart as well. *sigh*
October 26th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
@ Phil N:
Your comment made me laugh. Well done. xD
October 26th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
Wow.
I’ve just read through this entire comic, and I have to say it is:
A: incredibly cute.
B: Incredibly Well-written.
C: Hilarious!
October 26th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
I see that Bobby called me stupid [Oct 20th]. Hey, do we get bonus points when he insults us?
Bobby, I used to be on Usenet; I’ve been flamed by a lot bigger bastards than you.
But not by better story writers I think. Hope the artwork for #49 is here soon!
October 26th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
You made two extremely stupid assumptions and there aren’t any bigger bastards than me.
October 26th, 2007 at 4:36 pm
lol. I love you Bobby.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:56 pm
Heh. That’s what you think.
But I mean it about the story writing. Though it wouldn’t work nearly so well without Eisu’s artwork. I love how he gets the facial expressions, so they fit and add to the storyline. Just wish we didn’t have to wait so long for the next one though. You must find that frustrating too.
October 27th, 2007 at 12:28 am
Eh, his work is well worth the wait, and I’m very lazy and a slow writer in general, so I get to go on a break from writing “Marry Me” while waiting for the new page, which is especially nice during this time when I’m writing five “Last Blood” pages per week (and still doing “+EV,” of course, and other things), although I should be writing a ton more of everything and I certainly wish a new MM was up already. Should be up within 24 hours, but I’m not sure.
October 27th, 2007 at 2:52 am
I am a bit curious, where did the inspiration for “Marry Me” come from?
October 27th, 2007 at 2:59 am
No inspiration that I can remember. It was originally going to be more of a drama and the musician was going to be a guy instead of a girl and he was a young widower. Have tons of stupid notes about that from 2003. Anyway, romantic comedy with a female singer was definitely the way to go.
October 27th, 2007 at 8:15 pm
Actually downloaded it and read it before I found the website.
I love your characters – they seem real which is critical for the romantic comedy genre – far more important than the dread pp (which, I an American, noticed but didn’t care about it).
Keep up the good work – “The world needs more silly love songs”. I just hope you focus on them and not the Father. I’m not much interested in him.
October 27th, 2007 at 8:19 pm
“I just hope you focus on them and not the Father. I’m not much interested in him.”
Neither am I and he plays a very small role in the story. I doubt he’ll appear on more than five pages total. He’s the star of Page 49, though, which hopefully will be up very soon.
October 27th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
Cool tunes! I can handle a few pages for an antagonist. I will wait patiently (well maybe patiently…) for the story to continue. I would ask for hints, but I don’t want to spoil it.
I love the art work as well – it suits the characters very well. You have a great team going here.
October 28th, 2007 at 6:03 am
October 28th, 2007 at 8:25 am
To Jon above:
While I can agree with people bugging about the passport thing I can not agree about the dramatic pointing. It’s cute. It’s funny. Take it from a woman who likes cute and funny things. It is not your right to tell Crosby and Eisu what should and shouldn’t go. Enjoy the comic like the rest of us. And keep you unwanted and unenlightened comments to yourself. If you’ve got a negative opinion keep it to yourself.
To Bobby and Eisu:
I just started reading your webcomic. I really like it. Guy is extremely cute. I would watch this movie. Keep up the good work!
October 28th, 2007 at 8:59 am
Now I get it… updates verey M-W-F means “every march when finally a millionaire”
October 28th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
anna: Well done! You caught on!
Please, don’t bitch about it. *rolls eyes*
October 28th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
The pointing dramatically thing is the most popular stuff in the whole comic and the comic itself is quite popular, so obviously tons of people like it. Stasia’s first line about it is the signature for some people on various forums and I’ve seen it quoted many many times. People love it for some reason, which is why I brought it back a second time.
October 28th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
Ashmore. His name must be Ashmore.
October 29th, 2007 at 5:25 am
Why isn’t there a meme of people pointing dramatically?
The funny part would be putting whatever they’re pointing at in the background so that they’re clearly pointing the wrong way.
(Whoever starts this meme, please link to the comic.)
October 29th, 2007 at 9:54 am
Assistant name suggestion:

AWWW to the maxor! Ana and Guy are perfect together! And they totally should have invited the bus driver. That would be awesome!
June 25th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
My God I love Guy’s Dramatic Point! I can just hear him in my head like “Aafffffrikaaaaahh!!!”
May 4th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Awwww!!!! Guy is SOOOO Cute!
